I have over 20 years of experience as a life sciences copyeditor and proofreader with a demonstrated history of working in the information services industry. My core expertise lies in the medical, pharmaceutical, health and wellbeing, and sport science industries. I have a keen interest in health – both physical and mental – and nutrition.

I have 18 years’ in-house experience in medical editing, specialising in cardiovascular and drug delivery, combined with an MPhil and MSc (Distinction) in sport science, specialising in psychology. Expertise in physiology, anatomy and psychology – motor and cognitive.

I specialise in editing and proofreading in these areas, although my skills could be applied to most fields. Experienced in working in both British and American English.

Copyedited 30+ books to date, B2B medical magazines and scientific journals. I also proofread academic research articles and theses.

Services:

Proofreading takes place prior to publication as a ‘final check’. When proofreading your document, I will look for accuracy in text, images and layout, as well as check for consistency in word usage and presentation. I will ensure adherence to a house style if required. Proofreading is the final stage before publication and ensures spelling, grammar and layout are all correct.

Copyediting takes place at an earlier stage of production. I will ensure that your document is accurate and free of ambiguities. I will check spelling, grammar, punctuation and syntax are correct. I will look at the document layout and ensure it is consistent. I will check illustrations and tables are in the right place. I will also check the content and structure as well as ensure a logical flow of text and that it is in the correct tone of voice.
