Nvard Yerkanian – Designer

I'm an Armenian independent graphic designer and illustrator based in Venice, Italy.

My works have been exhibited worldwide, published and gained appreciation.

I was nominated for the World Illustration Awards in 2024 and 2019 and for the Koschatzky Art-Award 2021. I was one of the Chosen winners of 43 and 41 AI-AP (American illustration) and finalists of Hiiibrand Illustration 2023.

I am passionate about architecture, urbanism, cultural heritage, art, history and politics. I have designed and illustrated numerous books, catalogues, magazines and art zines.

I am the author of a picture book dedicated to modernist architecture in Armenia. It was published in 2023.

I speak English, Italian, French, Russian and Armenian.

What motivates me to work on projects is my deep fascination and curiosity for the intersection of design, culture, and history. My working design process reflects this motivation as I embark on a thorough research journey, delving into the historical and cultural context of each project. This process allows me to understand the details and underlying narratives behind the subject matter, enabling me to create visually compelling and conceptually rich designs. I infuse my work with a sense of depth and authenticity, creating designs that not only visually engage the audience but also provoke thought and foster a deeper appreciation for the subject matter. This relentless pursuit of knowledge, combined with a passion for storytelling through design, fuels my creative endeavours and inspires me to push the boundaries of my craft.
