I'll take in the big picture so I can make recommendations about structure, clarity, voice, linguistic flow, and any inconsistencies or repetition of content. I'll also dive into the details to ensure correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation as well as consistent formatting and adherence to the style guide of your choice.

Please note that I work primarily on manuscripts of around 35,000 words or longer.

Novelists

I'll flag big-picture issues such as weak structure, inconsistencies, or loose ends as well as distractions that take away from your story, like repetition and superfluous descriptions that need tightening up. More important, I'll advise you on how to fix them throughout your manuscript.

I enjoy looking for opportunities to make your novel shine with suggestions for further developing characters, clarifying scenes, bringing settings to life, and balancing description with dialogue. I can also provide feedback on the themes I see emerging in your work. Finally, I can ensure that your grammar, spelling, and punctuation are spot on.

My Background

I've been helping writers polish their prose for more than 15 years. In addition to my editing work, I've also written real estate investing and personal finance content for companies including The Motley Fool and CRE Daily. I feel that sitting on both sides of the writing table has given me a broader perspective on the craft and deeper appreciation for the work my clients have put into their manuscripts.
