Felicia Lee

Felicia Lee – Editor

I help non-fiction authors tell stories that matter. I bring over 20 years experience in commercial and academic publishing.

Overview

I’m an editor and former academic who loves helping authors in the humanities, business, and healthcare make an impact with their stories. My experience in linguistic research and academic publishing has given me an understanding of not only the conventions of academic writing, but the high level of intellectual rigor and authorial credibility that academic publishers and readers demand.

From my experience in corporate writing and editing (including work with three Fortune 500 companies), I understand the importance of writing with a confident, consistent voice that meets its targeted readers where they are.

What can you expect if you work with me? I’ll let some of my clients share their experience:

“I am deeply and forever grateful for your amazing support of my book project, The Case for Masks. I could not have written this book without your careful and comprehensive editing. You were always there to help me meet a tight deadline for publication, even during weekends and nights. I feel so blessed to have worked with an editor who cared about the public health issues that motivated the book’s publication. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”—Dean Hashimoto, Chief Medical Officer, Occupational Health Services, Workplace Health and Wellness, Mass General Brigham Hospitals.

“Felicia is an outstanding and invaluable collaborator. We at MIT Bootcamps have worked with Felicia to develop a book on the coaching method at MIT Bootcamps. The method is the centerpiece of our pedagogy; describing it with energy, rigor, and excitement was mission-critical to our organization. We couldn’t have asked for a better collaborator than Felicia. She has been a consummate professional: always prepared, always on time, always accomplishing on our milestones. But she has been so much more than that. Her academic background made it possible to describe our work with research-driven rigor. Her popular writing background made it possible to convey our ideas in a user-friendly, interesting way. She challenged us to think about our program in ways that we haven’t before. This not only made the book a productive endeavor for us, but only improved our work as leaders of MIT Bootcamps. And she has been an absolute pleasure to work with as a person. We cannot recommend Felicia more strongly and ourselves look forward to many more collaborations with her.”—Erdin Beshimov, director, MIT Bootcamps.

This is my first project with Reedsy. I was attempting to take a 40,000 word dissertation and turn it into a manageable journal article. I was able to get seventy-five percent of the way there, but I came to a point where I knew there were places to trim but I was way too close to go any further. I was lucky to be able to team up with Felicia. She, with approval, started the project two weeks ...
