Elise Vaz – Editor

Editing is not just a profession for me—it’s my passion, one that I have worked at for more than 20 years. In that time, I have edited hundreds of books. For 10 years I specialized in works by self-publishing authors. I also have extensive experience with religious texts (devotionals, scholarly works) and lifestyle titles (self-help, cookbooks, etc.). For the last six years, I have edited academic works for a number of university presses, covering topics ranging from queer representation in horror movies to the history of Jewish refugees in Hungary.

I also have extensive experience as a book coach--during my 20+ years as an editor and ghostwriter, I have done a lot of coaching for my editing/ghostwriting clients, for other ghostwriters, and for clients who were writing their own books. As with editing, my specializations for book coaching are memoirs and self-publishing authors, but I have also helped develop books in other nonfiction genres and many fiction genres as well.

As both an editor and a book coach, I am meticulous yet flexible, with a deep respect for the author's own voice. I want to help make your project what you want it to be, not what I think it should be.
