Overview
I’m Ellie, a web designer, digital strategist, and fellow author, and I help writers build online platforms that match the quality of their work.
Most author websites either feel overly templated or disconnected from the writing itself. I focus on creating platforms that feel considered, professional, and aligned, something that actually supports your work long-term.
As an author myself (under E.J Eden), I understand the shift from writing a book to building a platform around it. It’s not just about having a website, it’s about having a place that builds trust, grows your audience, and creates a memorable digital experience for the reader.
Alongside client work, I’ve built my own author platform, including:
• Growing an email list through organic content (250k+ reach converting into 1,000+ subscribers from one video)
• Building a trilogy with an engaged readership and ongoing inbound interest
• Navigating the full journey from writing to audience growth and platform-building
This means I don’t just design author websites — I understand how they function within a wider ecosystem.
My work typically includes:
• Clear, reader-first site structure
• Mailing list setup and integrations
• Platform strategy aligned to your genre and goals
• Clean, typographic design that feels timeless
• Post-launch walkthrough and support so you’re fully confident managing your webiste moving forward
With 7+ years in marketing and web design, I bring both creative and strategic thinking into every build.
The result is a platform that doesn’t just “exist” — it works for you as your writing grows.
If you’re looking for something thoughtful, well-built, and designed to last, I’d love to work together.

Hayley Sproull: TV Host, Radio Host + Comedian
"I'm so in love with it! What I love most is that the website truly captures me. It’s modern, fresh, and has become something beyond what I could have imagined. I gave Ellie a few keywords, and she just took them, ran with them, and created something I'm immensely proud of.
The process was not only super easy but also really fast—and fun! We had a great time. She could almost predict what I wanted and instantly understood the vibe. She's one clever cookie!"
I had the absolute pleasure of designing a brand-new website for Hayley Sproull—ZM's radio show host, actor, and comedian. You might recognise her from your TV screen, having recently done shows like "Have You Been Paying Attention?" and "The Great Kiwi Bake Off"
We went for a bold gothic aesthetic for her branding, embracing a moody, high-contrast look that truly reflects Hayley’s unique personality and brand. From dark, dramatic tones to striking typography, this site is all about making an impact—just like Hayley herself!

Project-managed, designed, and developed a 77-page Webflow website for a $38M government-funded healthcare and social services organisation, delivered end-to-end and serving three regions across Aotearoa New Zealand. The project prioritised clarity, accessibility, and trust for diverse community stakeholders.

Aberdeen Construction Management
"Ellie has been a joy to work with and I cant recommend her highly enough. She took a keen interest in the project and offered many suggestions for improvement and streamlining, communication was great and regular whenever there was something to address. The project was completed ahead of schedule and to budget and the end result was even better than expected.
I will certainly be using her for all our projects moving forward."
Aberdeen Construction Management works across complex construction projects and needed a website that reflected the scale, professionalism, and credibility of their work.
The existing website didn’t position them alongside larger construction management organisations or support their ambition to win higher-value contracts.
I led the web design and development to create a clean, professional website that positioned Aberdeen as a serious player in the construction management space. The focus was on clarity, capability, and credibility — ensuring the site could stand confidently alongside larger firms in competitive tender and procurement environments.
The result was a website that supports contract opportunities, strengthens first impressions, and reflects the organisation’s expertise and ambition.

Be Companny
Be Company delivers executive leadership coaching and organisational development, with a focus on influence, workplace behaviour, and culture change. The consultancy is led by Nicola Woodward, former CEO of Women’s Refuge Christchurch, where she spent over 20 years in executive leadership before founding Be Company.
I supported Nicola to clarify the positioning of her offer and restructured the website to articulate the value of influence-led co-creation in the workplace. The language was refined to speak directly to decision-makers, ensuring the work felt credible, grounded, and relevant to real organisational challenges.
The outcome was a confident digital presence that reflects the authority of the work and supports engagement with organisational clients.
Nicola said, "The experience of working with Ellie to develop an eco-system for my business shifted me from wavering to committed. Her authentic belief in the transformative potential of RISE infused our relationship with creativity, trust and shared learning. I'm so happy with everything Ellie's created and much more confident to put myself out there!"
