CLIENT REVIEWS

“Sharon is a phenomenal designer. She listens, gets to know your company, and thinks about how to translate your needs into a stunning, intuitive, and user-friendly website. She’s flexible, timely, and a pleasure to work with. When I need her help - whether explaining technical issues, giving advice about content, or problem-solving - she is always at the ready. It is rare to find a designer like Sharon who knows how to translate content and business objectives both visually and operationally into practice. I will only use her for my web needs - she’s that good!”

“Sharon Reaves has a keen eye, a strong sense of design, is a great listener, and has a vast knowledge of website building. These are the skills I was looking for in a web designer. She was eager to answer any questions I had and very helpful in explaining what I needed to know for my site, and made my participation very easy and approachable. I recommend her highly!”

Projects

Wilde Pitch

This was a new Squarespace project for a book intended to be released on the website, a few chapters at a time each week.

We used the blog function for the chapters, allowing us to schedule weekly publication.

I uploaded the CSV file to create the email list and designed email templates to announce weekly releases, as well as an automation for new subscribers.

I even took a stab at recreating the book cover to be more in line with their inspiration sites.

I added all basic SEO: SEO titles, descriptions, H1s and alt-text. The client can access analytics and review email performance. All in a mobile friendly site that is easy for them to maintain going forward.

Deborah Johnstone

I was hired to clean up and complete this site in Wordpress/Elementor. I added a blog and an additional page to highlight recent writing. I provided training so the client can maintain the site going forward.

Jessica Carew Kraft

Annie Daly

Squarespace (7.0) Re-Design for Travel Writer, Annie Daly. I changed her template to allow for maximum customization, sourced banner images, reorganized all content to improve the user experience. I added press and publications and maintain updates on an ongoing basis as new items and books are added.

Tova Friedman Survivor

New WordPress Design project for child survivor of the Holocaust, Tova Friedman. Site includes press, video and link to purchase from Amazon as well as an event calendar for book readings and TV appearances. I provided client training so they are able to manage ongoing press and calendar items on their own.

Sharon was wonderful to work with. She took a website that I had started with another designer who was inexperienced, and finished it with me. She kept what worked and improved the rest. She gave me the tools to continue to add to the site and make it more of what I was looking for. Mine wasn't ...

What website builders and hosting services do you recommend for authors looking to create a professional author website?

Let's start with the "big three": WordPress, Squarespace, and Wix. Each has its own pros and cons. I'd start with identifying the goal of your website, the complexity of your design, and your comfort level. WordPress With countless themes and plugins to choose from, WordPress allows for almost ...

What key elements should every author include on their homepage to engage visitors and build their brand?

If you think of a website like a book, it needs to follow some formula: outline, chapters, and plot. In the case of an author's website, this could translate to a compelling banner image with an attention-grabbing and relevant headline that, at a glance, tells your visitors what your site is ab...

What tools do you recommend for authors to capture and nurture leads on their websites?

Let's start with the basics of a signup form. Most web builders have forms built in, but make sure it's connected to some email marketing tool. Squarespace and Wix have their own, or you may choose to add a third-party like Mailchimp. I recommend setting up an automation so that when someone si...
