Overview
I am an established developmental editor, copyeditor, and proofreader with a Master's degree from the University of Oxford and 10 years of in-house experience across leading publishers and independent presses in the UK, such as Faber, Bloomsbury, Oxford University Press, and Europa Editions. I am also a freelance editor for Little, Brown, five-time winner of the Publisher of the Year Award.
I have built a prize-recognised list, and the books I have edited and acquired have been longlisted and shortlisted for major prizes in the UK and US—a recent highlight is the novel Dominion by Addie E. Citchens, shortlisted for the 2026 Women's Prize for Fiction—and have been Books of the Day/Week/Year in The New Yorker, The Times, The Spectator, The Guardian, The London Review of Books, The TLS, as well as selected for Service95's "Best New Books" list.
I work across literary fiction, upmarket commercial fiction, women's fiction, genre fiction, narrative non-fiction, fiction and non-fiction in translation, and short stories. My services include reader reports (for when you need a second set of eyes on a manuscript, proposal, or collection), line edits, developmental edits, proofreading, and more.
My signature skills are thoughtful yet thorough developmental editing, rigorous copyediting (Oscar Wilde's grandson refers to me as the Guillotine), and high-quality proofreading. My commissioning experience across the UK publishing scene means I know what agents and editors are looking for in each genre, and I know what sells and what doesn't.
If you're looking for someone who can deliver exceptional edits and guide you through the maze of traditional trade publishing, then look no further.
