Overview
Iām Lochlann (they/them), commissioning editor at Faber. I started out on the MA in Creative Writing at UEA, where I stayed to get a PhD and to teach; my first editing experience was marking the MA in Crime Fiction there. I moved to mainstream publishing in 2019, and have since published Amazon bestsellers, Richard and Judy book club picks, Waterstones Thrillers of the month - and, more importantly, some exceptionally well written books.
My expertise is in crime and thriller fiction, and I am most comfortable editing work with some kind of suspense, but I have edited almost everything: romance, fantasy, literary fiction, memoir, and expert-led non-fiction, too.
I start with structural/developmental editing, thinking about pace and structure, character motivation and more; I can work with you down through chapters and scenes to the line level, too, to polish every sentence. I'm thorough and thoughtful and love nothing more than digging deep into a text to bring the best version of it to light.
