Overview
I help thinkers, teachers, and memoirists to develop and complete substantial writing projects. We meet regularly and develop the material over time, moving from early form toward a book or other finished piece of writing.
I’ve made a name for myself by collaborating with the beloved spiritual teacher Pema Chodron on her three most recent books, "Welcoming the Unwelcome," "How We Live Is How We Die," and "Another Kind of Freedom." I’ve also had the immense honor of working to produce three books of Buddhist teachings with my own teacher Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche.
I'm at my best when working with people who have important ideas and generous motivations, but who aren't in the right position to put those on paper. If you have a book's worth of material to express, but you don't feel confident about writing, don't have time to write, or don't enjoy writing, then I will help you get your thoughts written down clearly in the pages of a published book.
As a collaborator, I have a track record of being reliable, efficient, truth-seeking, light-hearted, and encouraging. I'm a good judge of material and have high standards and a strong analytical mind. I enjoy brainstorming and thinking spontaneously to keep the collaborative process fresh and vibrant. (In her acknowledgements to "Welcoming the Unwelcome,” Pema Chodron said that I am “always a pleasure to work with” and that “without him this book wouldn’t exist.”)
Together we can produce an excellent book with your best thoughts beautifully articulated and your name on the cover, and we can have a great time in the process.
