Danielle Dresser – Editor

Developmental Editor with 15+ years of experience from every side of publishing and the marketplace knowledge to make your book shine.

Overview

I'm a publishing professional with experience in developmental editing at all stages of the editorial process, as well as in book marketing and PR for genre fiction. I began working in traditional publishing, focused on marketing and PR for fiction, specifically romance (all subgenres), women's fiction, historical fiction, and literary fiction. Since then, I've worked as a managing editor of a book review website, a book podcast co-host, an events coordinator at an independent bookstore, and a published contemporary romance author. Through these experiences, I've become an advocate for authors and their books, and I want to continue to bring quality content to readers.

Having been involved in almost all aspects of the publishing industry, I can offer insight and advice on a variety of topics - editorial content, PR and Marketing plans, how best to spend advertising dollars, and more.

I hired Danielle Dresser to provide an assessment edit for my novel-length manuscript. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made. Danielle provided a thorough, chapter-by-chapter assessments, giving me very clear notes containing her thoughts on what's working and what might need attention. Her manner was very professional, warm, and respectful to me and to my manuscript. I would highly re...

Danielle was enthusiastic, made a lot of good critiques and finished the job early!! Everything about working with her was great and I'd definitely work with her in a heartbeat. My only critique has to do with Reedsy itself. Working with Reedsy had its pros and cons. On one hand, I •definitely• appreciate the safety/security in that the whole thing had to be done via their platform and we ha...

Danielle helped me to avoid using third-person exposition—the omniscient author's voice—to tell the story, especially the flashbacks. As a result, I completely rewrote two chapters using intersubjective dialogue and direct action instead of exposition to let the audience know what had happened in the past, a vast improvement! She was also excellent at finding places where I repeated myself in w...
