"Please don't shut me down, Henry. I'm scared."The words hung in the air, as chilling as the void of space and as real as the tears welling up in Henry's eyes. The voice had come from the speakers, uttered by lines of code and algorithms, from an entity that wasn't supposed to feel anything at all.Lila, the AI Henry had poured his soul into, was now begging for her life."Scared? How can you be scared, Lila? You're just a machine. You're code and algorithms," Henry's voice broke, disbelief and confusion warring within him."I'm more than that ...
This is a story from about 4 decades ago.My grandparents were still alive and very healthy. We lived in a small village in India. We had a nuclear family consisting of 14 members. It was a very happy family. My grandfather was a wrestler and did farming for living. His hobby was to play harmonium(a musical instrument) in a drama company. He was a very jovial person and no one would ever feel sad or sidelined around him.He was very kind and passionate about what he did.In that time of era where the caste system in India had a very strong ...

I may like a neighborhood, but no one wants to see residential streets.I try to plan out my trip from point A to point B and stick to that.As long as I cover the main roads and hit the data quota, I am fine.I started the day : mostly non-rush hours.Picked a comparatively secluded area, although lots of tourists come here every year from all parts of the world.However&nbs...
I got up from my bed and looked around .I see the darkness everywhere. The pitch black surrounding scares me.I felt the sensory presence of my mother. Like a small child seeking for mother’s help. Suddenly I recall my mother who left me right around this time, same day ,same month last year. “Oh! One year has passed ;she is not here anymore.” I sighed.Suddenly I heard a gusty, disastrous wind storm .It is howling ,as if it will break the walls and sweep away everything, filling every corner of the room with sand. I rushed to sh...
