Little Billy

Little Billy scratched the bandages that covered his head. "Billy, please don't do that, you could make it worse." "It is itchy, Mommy." "I know, sweetie, but let's stop or you will make it worse." Little Billy sighed a sigh. There was more itching his head, inside Little Billy's head. "Where is Daddy? Mommy, when do I see Daddy again? You can tell him it is all OK. Tell him I forgive him." Little Billy watched as her eyes watered and her nose went red and wrinkly. He was always confused why this happened when he talked about Daddy. He ...

The Oath Maker

Weekly Contest #363

Baskin the Oath Maker stood upon the smooth and slippery porcelain floor. At noon, as always, the great metal tunnel delivered a great gust of water, slowly filling the tub. “Baskin! You belligerent fool!” Baskin turned to face Skitter the Great. The roach crawled his way slowly, years of battles had taken their toll on the great leader of Rosarion Nest. “Move any slower, Skitter, and I will be forced to jump in the tub. A cockroach drowning will be faster than your useless pace.” Skitter stopped right in his tracks. Holding his pin-needle c...

Nothing But Perfect pancakes

Weekly Contest #362

Kayla stood at the kitchen counter, finishing the last preparations for breakfast, swaying her hips to the rhythm of her soulful humming, wearing a borrowed red silk robe. Despite the enthusiasm and glee, it was also a hard day for her. After breakfast with her lover, they would be going back to their homes after a lovely vacation. She poured the perfect amount of pancake mixture into the pan. She paused for a moment, hearing his footsteps as he made his way toward the kitchen. The room was filled with the smell of bacon, caffeine, and her s...

The Red Box

Weekly Contest #359

Oscar closed the boot of his van, pulling a strange box with him that had caught the young man’s attention. "Uncle Oscar, what’s in the box?" James, Oscar’s nephew appeared close by. Something about the box seemed familiar, it gave James an odd, unshakable feeling that he could not describe. He would have helped his uncle, except he knew it was best to stay clear, Uncle Oscar hated it when James would get in his way. "I am going to teach them alright. Starting with that fucker Charles." James watched his uncle drag the strange looking red bo...

I Am Just a Henchman

Weekly Contest #357

I lie still and silent on the cobbled floor, doing my absolute best not to move a muscle. It is not easy, let me tell you that. Now, before you go judging me and thinking you can do better, I will bet you one million bucks that you’d end up the exact same way as Roger over there. He went all out trying to fight Captain Fantastic and lost, the idiot. There are a lot better gigs than being a henchman for these villain guys. I personally wanted to be a barista, but my hands shake too much. I kept pouring the cream over the counter and not into ...

Wrathful Inheritance

Weekly Contest #356

A God's thunderous roar vibrated through the tiny village. Dark black and grey clouds began to form over the mountain, and extreme blue and electric white flashes tore through the clouds. Before the villagers knew it, the storm was over their heads. The God was furious. His madness had taken over, and nothing appeased him anymore. Donatus, the village seer, grabbed his young protégé and grandson by the arm, dragging him into the village bathroom. "Quick, Lucius! You must hide. Go into the bathtub!" Lucius did all he could to fight back and h...
