Overview
Good book interiors do more than make a manuscript look polished. They create structure, establish hierarchy and make complex ideas easier and more enjoyable to read.
I’m a book designer and typesetter with over 10 years’ experience, including at DK, part of Penguin Random House. I design and typeset books for publishers, organisations and independent authors, from highly visual illustrated titles to complex long-form and scholarly publications.
My work combines strong editorial design with rigorous typographic craft. I create clear page architecture, typographic systems and engaging layouts for image-rich books, as well as meticulous typesetting for manuscripts containing footnotes, references, indexes, tables, captions and multiple levels of information.
I have worked across academic publishing, illustrated non-fiction, children’s publishing, and history. I also have specialist experience with Arabic script, transliteration, and multilingual content.
I work directly with clients from initial concepts through to final print-ready files, developing an interior system that feels distinctive, appropriate and consistent throughout the book. My process is collaborative, organised and detail-focused, with careful attention to both the visual character of the publication and the experience of reading it.
Whether your book is bold and image-led or restrained and text-heavy, my aim is to create an interior that looks considered, communicates clearly and reads effortlessly.
