Overview

Hey there! My name's Ty.

I worked for one of the top literary agencies in the US for a decade, and in that time I've worked on many books, including eighteen New York Times Bestsellers and two Oprah Book Club Picks, for just about every major publisher you can think of. I’ve assisted in story-building, outlining and structuring, developmental edits, editorial assessments, and final copy edits.

I have a true passion for all things fiction, but particularly sci-fi and fantasy genres.

I love books (surprise!) and I take anything that comes my way seriously, because there is always an opportunity to make it be the book you want it to be.

I really look forward to hearing from you and seeing what I can do to help.

Some words from publishing professionals I’ve worked with (you can see more of my portfolio on my website for other projects I've done):

“Ty has an exceptional sense of the cultural moment, and he engages your book to speak into the reader’s market place. He knows how readers experience new ideas and stories -and he’ll help you like he helped me to find the way into the zeitgeist of our time. First he gets to know you, your vision, and your work, then he identifies the best pathways to tell your story to the world. If you want to reach people and be heard, Ty is your bridge.”

—Dr. Lisa Miller,

New York Times Bestselling author of The Awakened Brain and The Spiritual Child

“Ty is personable, organized, and a loyal supporter of his authors. Because he makes everyone around him feel comfortable and heard, he promotes an environment of honesty. Hard conversations about a book’s development are always easier when Ty is there to listen, strategize, and help.”

—Allyssa Fortunato

Book Publicity Director at Fortier PR

"Ty is an author’s secret weapon. I worked closely with him during the release of my first book, Chatter. Ty patiently and compassionately walked me through every step of the process. No question was too silly, no problem too large. I can’t imagine releasing another book without him. Brilliant, personable and efficient, Ty is the kind of person who will instantly add value to your project and enhance your mood to boot. Working with him was a privilege."

—Ethan Kross

Bestselling author of Chatter

"Ty helped me find my voice. I needed a coach and accountability partner to help me finish the manuscript I'd been working on for a year. Ty quickly got to know me, my writing style, and my values. When he edited my work, he gave my own words more meaning and impact. The end result was a manuscript that was coherent and compelling. The proposal he wrote for my book helped me land a literary agent within a week. The agent commented that she replied to my query because of the strength of the proposal. Her praise confirmed what I already knew — Ty is a pro."

I help develop manuscripts on submission. This can involve working with the core idea someone has to develop into a book, and building out from there in terms of themes and structure. Or it can be with a manuscript that has already been written and only needs to be made publisher ready.

I've worked with authors from the very initial seed of an idea all the way to touching up the final manuscript. Often these are long haul projects from inception to manuscript delivery, but there's a ton of variations of what Iv'e done based on what the project has needed.

By far the most thorough and insightful professional I have worked with in the publishing arena. Ty is easy to communicate with, thoughtful, but doesn't paint with a broad brush. He gives thorough detail on what works and what could be tweaked in a story and plot line. At the same time, he adds e...

Ty did a thorough and comprehensive 25 page editorial assessment on my Magical Realism novel covering Characters, Tone& Style, and Plot. He also did Chapter-by-Chapter Notes as well as an annotated version of the manuscript. His comments were highly constructive and thought provoking, but never...

As a first time fantasy author, I was overwhelmed and struggling to keep my ideas straight. Ty was great at pointing out plot holes, other ways to look at scenes, and bounce ideas off of. He helped me remain consistent and refine my villain's arc so their involvement didn't feel randomly thrown i...

Ty is incredible at identifying weak points in your manuscript and pinpointing what needs to be reworked. He is very responsive and friendly. The editorial letter for a developmental edit was 13 pages of insight and broken into next steps, which was helpful and reduced the feeling of being overwh...
