Overview

I have about 30 years of experience in publishing, primarily in educational publishing. My experience across a broad range of subjects allows me to bring a high level of expertise to just about anything that comes my way. During the last two decades I have been a senior editor of secondary-school textbooks in language arts, social studies, and math. While at McDougal Littell / Houghton Mifflin, I received a company award for my copy editing. Today, I focus more on developmental editing. Prior to editing textbooks, I edited reference books. During the last ten years I have had a second job as a freelance editor, handling trade titles primarily in business, social sciences, and college English.

Clients who hire me will benefit in multiple ways. I am a strong copy editor, content editor, and fact checker all rolled into one. I will conduct a thorough review of the organization of your manuscript, making sure there are no weak links. I will watch for a consistent tone and approach. I will suggest ways you can engage your readers more effectively. I will identify strengths and tell you how to add to them. You can expect a thorough review done in a timely manner.
