Overview
My primary concern when I edit is making sure what an author is saying will be understood by readers as intended. I'm not a frustrated writer (as are many editors); I've known this is what I wanted to do since I was in college and ended up editing all my friends' papers. Years ago, an author complimented me by saying I was a "subtle editor." That's always my goal, to help others communicate exactly what they want in their own voice.

Work experience
Rev.com
Work approximately 15-20 hours per week editing transcription drafts and transcribing audio and video text. You wouldn't think this would be editorial-related, but I assure you it is. It's a challenge to remove all the false starts and fillers people use when they speak in order to provide customers with clean, comprehensible transcripts.
