Taylor Morris

Taylor Morris – Editor

Over twenty years of experience as both a writer and editor specializing in middle grade and young adult literature.

Overview

I have over twenty years of experience as both a writer and editor. I have published multiple stand-alone books and series with Simon & Schuster and Penguin Random House.

I am a thorough editor--both general and copy editing--with an eye toward manuscript details and overall cohesiveness. This includes character and plot development, dialogue, plot pacing, and raising the quality of your writing. I won't let you get away with a single lazy sentence or cliched description.

I know what it takes to write a book. It's hard work, especially when you have a full-time job. I've been there and know what writers put themselves through to create a book from their own experiences and imaginations. My critiques are thoughtful and always honest but compassionate. Lots of people talk about writing a book; few go through with it. Anyone who gets this far deserves some major kudos.

I've edited for individuals just starting out and experienced writers looking for professional feedback. I know the industry and can help you navigate its tricky waters. I also work with a large number of highly successful self-published authors who are moving from final draft to finished package.

I am the author of over a dozen books for tweens and young readers including stand-alone novels, age-appropriate non-fiction, character-driven series, and celebrity collaborations.

I would love to hear from you and what you're working on!

Ms. Taylor's work was exceptional and thorough. As an aspiring author, I needed someone who was willing to tear my manuscript apart and point out what improvements needed to be made. Ms. Taylor went beyond that, going through my manuscript in detail which allowed me to see the flaws I was previou...

Taylor was so helpful! She pointed out major issues with the main character that I somehow managed to miss, and gave me lots of helpful feedback. I am currently in the process of revising the manuscript thoroughly, and thanks to Taylor, it is already so much better.

I'm so glad you found my edits helpful, Grace! 💜

Ms. Morris is such a pleasure to work with. Her feedback is very thorough and she does awesome work. This doesn’t even include her positive and friendly attitude, which was by far the best part of working with her! It was an honor.

Always encouraging and quick to respond, seasoned author Taylor spotted typos and errors in my manuscript like a boss and also made sure I followed standard conventions. Now I can send it to agents confidently without worrying that I look like a noob. Best of luck to all.
Taylor M.
I think I should add "Will not make you look like a noob" to my editing profile. Thanks, Jeff!!
