"Alright, next week is Halloween, so who's dressing up as what?" asked the siren excitedly to the others. While wrapping her arms around Jack and Nick, who were sitting on a couch playing a video game on the TV of the game store. Nick felt a bit uncomfortable, while Jack just accepted it, much like how he recently accepted the fact that he had to date the siren. Arron and Trevor sat at a table in silence, painting game pieces. "Oh, come on. Someone's got to have some idea of what they're going to dress up as," said the siren, trying to start a conversation. She stared directly at Trevor as he just shrugged. "Really? Nothing? Arron, please tell me you have something. Are you and Mia doing a couples costume this year?" she asked. "Maybe, but we haven't decided on anything yet," said Arron as he scratched the back of his head and went back to doing homework. "Agh, well, since you guys won't tell about yours, I guess I'll have to tell about Jack and me's couple costume. We're going as a vampire and a vampire hunter," she said as she whipped out her phone to show all the stuff she picked for their outfits. "See, I found this black dress, then there's the fangs, and then my favorite thing: A tiny bat wine cup," she said as she forced the phone into Nick's face, who was trying to pay attention to the game. "Cool. I bet you will look nice," said Nick. "Agh, you didn't even look at all the stuff. Here, look at the bat cup," said the siren, putting the phone back into Nick's face. The cup was silver with 3D black textured bats wrapping around the top of the cup. "It does look...vampirish," said Nick as he took a couple of quick glances at her phone while still playing. "Honestly, I thought we were doing cultists," said Jack. "Cultists? Didn't you do that like last year?" asked Arron from his table. "Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that," said Jack as he continued playing. "We are just vampire cultists," said the siren as she kissed Jack on the cheek. He remained unfazed. Nick just shook his head while smiling. "Wow, what an arc going from cultist, to ex-cultist, to dressing up as a cultist, to vampire cultist. What's next year going to be, alien cultist?" said Trevor. "Ew. No," said the siren. "Sounds interesting, actually," said Nick. "I have to agree with Nick. That does sound awesome, no idea how I would pull it off though," said Jack. "Well, it certainly isn't happening this year," said the siren. "Wait. Hear me out, alien vampire cultist," said Nick. "Oh my gosh. You're so lame," said the siren as she walked away. "Heck no," chuckled Jack. "What? It was just a suggestion," said Nick defensively. "Yeah, a stupid one," said Jack. "Thank you," shouted the siren from a good distance away.
Then came the manager, who was carrying a medium-sized tan-colored cardboard box. "Got more decro for the store," he said as he put the box down. He then looked around the room and noticed that something had gone down. "Um, did I miss something. Also, where is the siren, because Mia is about to walk through the door," he said, concerningly. Then came in Mia. "Hello," she chirped. Arron shot up. "Mia, how are you doing? How was cheerleading practice?" he said as he rushed toward Mia and hugged her. As he did, the siren came back from another portion of the room and stood still. Arron looked at her with an intense stare. Jack then came along, went to the siren, turned her around, and walked her back to where she came from. "Arron, why are you acting so weird?" asked Mia. "Oh, um. Nothing. Just glad to see you. That's all. Oh, how's our couple's costume coming along?" asked Arron awkwardly. "Eh huh? Wait, couple's costume? You want to do a couple's costume this year?" squeaked Mia. "Yes?" said Arron slowly. "Yay! Ah, I've got so many ideas. We can do Disney, anime, or Marvel. Ah, I've been waiting for so long for this. I'm so excited." Mia was becoming a bouncy ball of excitement and cuteness. "Yay, so exciting," said Arron, glad that he was able to dodge a bullet.
Meanwhile, Trevor was looking up various costumes. "I'm thinking either dragon onesi or a D20 outfit," he said. "That...You know what, you do you, buddy," said Nick from the couch. "Well, what are you doing then?" asked Trevor. "I'm going as a stormtrooper. My sister is going to be an Imperial Inquisitor while my mom and dad are going as Leia and Han," said Nick. "That's cool," said Trevor as he went back to looking up designs. Then came Jack and the siren as they discussed the final details of their costumes. They made their way to a table and lowered their heads while peeking up to ensure Mia didn't see the siren. Luckily, Arron was still keeping her distracted.
A couple of days before Halloween, the store had a costume party. Spider webs, skeletons, and pumpkins littered the store and covered basically everything in sight. The Dice Changers came in their costumes: Nick was a very accurate, very detailed stormtrooper. Jack's vampire hunter costume had him wearing an all black long-sleeve top and pants with a black trench coat, a small black hat, and carrying a toy crossbow. Meanwhile, the siren wore a long, flowy black dress with a red corset, she carried her vampire cup, and constantly flashed her white plastic fangs. She also wore red lipstick and also made her face look much paler. They were followed up by Arron and Mia, who dressed up as low-quality, makeshift X-Men characters. Then there was Trevor, who wore pjs that were covered in various rainbow colored dice sets. "Uh, Trevor, what are you?" asked Nick. "I'm a dice bag," said Trevor gleefully as he spun around, showing off all the different types of dice and sets that were attached to the pjs. "That's hilarious," said Nick, laughing. "That's so cute," said Mia. "That's honestly quite creative," said Jack, almost annoyed at how simple it was. "Thank you. This took way too long to find, and it almost didn't come in on time, but I like it, and my dice people like it too," said a now proud Trevor. "I'm sorry, but why would anyone need a dice bag?" asked the siren. Nick, Arron, and Trevor all turned at the siren in unison and shock. "Because Missy, dice gobins and dragons exist and thus need bags to carry all their sets of dice," said Trevor. "But why do they need so many dice sets?" asked the siren. "Because rolling multiple shiny magic math rocks is fun," said Trevor. "Eh huh. I, uh. Um. Ok," said the siren, giving up.
Mia then turned toward the siren. "I'm sorry, who are you?" she asked. Everyone else froze and fell silent. Things might have just gotten a bit. Complicated.
