Memories, like the corners of our minds.
Misty. Water colored. Black-clouded confusion.
They pop up when they want, from the recesses—behind the eyes, the ears, the nape of the neck.
Just to say, “Hey, I am still here.”
Ugh.
Or.
Ce Sera Sera
Whatever will be, will. Let it go. Acceptance.
God grant me the serenity, to accept the things I cannot change. Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
Wisdom to know the difference.
It’s all about the apps.
No!
Not appetizers, 🫒🥟or application for this or that place.🔏🗓️
It is applying the wisdom of the words to whatever is hiding back there in the corners of our minds.
Misty. Water-colored. Black-clouded.
Ironically when seeking or being granted serenity, like in the words Reinhold Niebuhr (kinda sounds like neighbor) wrote with the intention to ask God what to do. The words are not in the Bible. The words call on God to guide us and teach us the way. The right way.
He says. The Golden Rule. Do unto others, as you would have others do unto you.
The difference between what is really real and what was really manufactured—Is really, really difficult. Nagging memories want to get in the head, the corners of the mind and take up insidious residency. The ones hardest to shake off are usually the ones that feel like the jugular is suffocating ly being closed.
Argh
The nagging comes from the back of the head. The dark past pushing its way to the front of the head in a resulting migraine. Causing the feeling of completely being out the moment in a moment. The body keeps the score.
Please. Grant us the power to accept, to exercise the courage, and the wisdom for things in our life we cannot control. (cw)
The migraine worsens. The fear drops to the core and takes residency in the gut. Ugh. And Argh at the same time. Reinhold Niebuhr wrote the powerful words of serenity and courage and wisdom in the 1930’s. His written words of prayer were used in sermons and Sunday school groups, and studies since then. Organizations using his morals and principles as a guide to lead us to the biblical teachings, reminders and guidance under God.
While and as the migraine persists, what causes a human in their 50’s and 60’s to behave like a toddler of 2 or 3?
Lack of being heard. Instant gratification. Aging like a fine wine? Notsomuch when battling the bugs buzzing in the corners of our minds, keep ringing and ringing and buzzing and tickling.
For example:
A 2 or 3 year old’s Ten. ‘ Rules of Possession’
1. If I like it, it’s mine.
2. If it’s in my hand, it’s mine.
3. If I can take it from you, it’s mine.
4. If I had it a little while ago, it’s mine.
5. If it’s mine, it must NEVER appear to be yours in any way.
6. If I am doing or building something, all the pieces are mine.
7. If it looks just like mine, it’s mine
8. If I saw it first, it’s mine.
9. If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.
10. If it’s broken, it’s yours.
🙂
Now. We over-the-50- year-old- crew-of- misfits- and- in- the-minute- confusion can readily admit, we may exercise one or two or more of these brilliant-toddler-bullet points. We may even actually try to engage in their immaturity. We oldsters get to use the excuse we are tired, we earned our rights….. blah, blah, blah…wawawawawa….
While in action, the migraine permeates the entire crown of our existence and now we just feel black-clouded dizzy ness of not having done it right the first time.
Reinhold. Thank you for leading us to the Big Guy 🙏🏻 with the bonafide answers.
Phew!
In adult-land possession used to be 9/10ths of the law, and the statute of limitations was a limited scope of time. A maximum time limit of a gripe, an offense. A prescriptive period.
Now.
Anything goes.
On and on and on and on and on and on, unfortunately,
in the recesses of the mind, in the back alley in the corners of places of humans who feel cornered.
What is the prescription? Keep coming back? Perhaps? Move forward? Not yet. Stay? Perhaps.
God Only Knows.
Humans spend a lifetime battling demons of their own—may be self- inflicted, maybe not self-inflicted.
The wisdom to know the difference.🙏🏻
The ability to open up the corners of the mind is a difficult, gut wrenching activity. Memories of discontent should never be a ‘left over’ for a child to gobble up when the hunger for attention has gone missing. Abandoned with a what-to-do-next option?
Make some noise to drown out the bug-siphoning-off-good-energy behind the ear, under the jaw line in the temple of doom-dom above the brow.
Finally.
‘There is no going back now’ enters and rescues the day.
Finally.
Before the help was just a passage way to more help, and so on and son on and so-n…..
Until one day, the toddler was taken seriously. The one who grew into the feet of a 50- something and cried really loud,
’NOooo MORE.’
Someone listened, God granted serenity in the form of peace . The toddler-50-something felt a peace that passes understanding.
It all happened so gradually, and yet took the better part of a lifetime.
Sad, But True.
Better late than never.
There is no going back now.
Ce Sera Sera. Whatever will be.
Will be.
Tomorrow is a new day.
Yesterday is simply a reminder it happened. The rest is up to the one who holds the cards in their tiny little hand. Hands.
With a steady hand and conscience, the child who once had a chance, is now, given back all the opportunity of having a chance. At having a lot.
When you think about it…… the kid was right all along. Possession is 9/10th of the law.
And.
If it is broken, it’s yours.
(Reminder—of the straw that broke the camel’s back……..)
The wisdom to know the difference came roaring back like a lion and everyone finally listed to the scream.
If it’s broken, it’s yours.
It’s,
Not mine.🙂
