Elizabeth

Penny for them ?.Gill asked Kay as she was making tea.

You have that far away look in your eyes,.

Kay smiled. She looked at the green tea she was making, it’s funny but whenever I make green tea, I always think of Elizabeth.

Elizabeth.! I don’t think I have heard you mention that name before.

Oh that’s right, before your time.

Tell me about her .

Oh Elizabeth was special.

Was ?.

Yes.bless her, she has gone home to glory, many years now.

It was through her,I first heard of green tea. . Let’s have a seat. Do you mind sitting in the kitchen, it’s a lot warmer with the stove, much cosier.

No, this is great. So why was this lady so special.?

Elizabeth was a small Texas lady ,she looked like Dolly Parton. And she was a mighty woman of God.

She was a missionary in Africa, her testimony was amazing. She became Ill with cancer all over.especially her eyes, she could no longer read. While she was in hospital a friend, put the bible on to tape for her, in those days.you did not have technology like CDs.she would lie listening to the bible. One day while listening, God spoke to her.told her he would heal her.and send her to the nations.which He did. The first place she went to was China. She had a young doctor, as her interpreter and guide.he was shot and killed, she had to leave China. She then went to Africa. She arrived in Africa with a red leather suit on. The blonde hair and boots, with a big suitcase.A small boy met her who could speak English.he took her to his village. She said to me,never ask a African boy how long. Whenever she asked, he would say, not long, not far. She told me they walked for miles. Hours later It was dark when they arrived, and she was exhausted. When they got to the village the chief said, put her in there. she was given a type of hut. She told me she was glad she was so tired that she just fell asleep, because in the morning, the hut had so many spiders in it.

It was very hard to tell Elizabeth’s age, I think she was in her sixties, When she came to Scotland she would stay with me, she always looked made up with her makeup. It wasn’t until one day a telephone call came for her,and when I saw her without. makeup, my heart just filled with incredible love for her, she was like a frail little child, faint scars because of all the surgeries. She was so small and delicate to look at.but I used to tell her, she was as tough as old boots. This would make her laugh. When she came In front of the chief, who was about eighty, He said to her. Oh Mama when I am your age, I hope I am as strong as you. He thought she was much older because of the colour of her hair. He told her to bow down, she said to the young boy. Tell the chief I respect his authority, but I bow before no man.only the living God. Oh The chief gets angry, then he says to her your, God must be a powerful God, because he had men come there before, but they only wanted to sleep with his women. So he allows her to stay a few days ,and she brings the chief and his people to God. And baptising them. It wasn't until they had left and the young boy was taking her to the station, she found out it, was a cannibal village. She spent many years in Africa, did hundreds of parachute jumps into Rwanda.taking in aid. She was shot at, her body was so badly damaged with things.she ended up with a great portion of her body with titanium. She was once in a remote village everyone was dying with a rare malaria disease. She was at deaths door. God spoke to a man in another, far away, village telling him to go find her, and give her medicine. She recovered. I learnt a lot from her. She taught me a valuable lesson. Because she had been in the bush for so long, she was in need of new clothes. I was thinking about all the inexpensive shops I could take her too, being a missionary I thought she wouldn’t be able to buy much. She wasn’t having it. Kathleen she said, My father always gives the best. We went to the most expensive shops in the city, and she replenished her wardrobe. Then we went to one of the high end stores for her makeup. Not only did she buy makeup. She witnessed to the sales assistant, got her to give her heart to Jesus, and we walked out of that store with all these free samples. I am not a very good sleeper.and I would hear her every night, three four in the morning praying. Another thing she taught me. I had what’s called a hospitality ministry, people who would come to minister pastors and such would stay with me,and I would look after them. I did this willingly and freely. It is a blessing on its own. Elizabeth came down to me with two hundred pounds in her hand and stretched out to give it to me, I was hurt and put out by it. I said to her. “ What you doing.” She said “ While I am here I will have to make phone calls, some abroad, these are for your phone bill. “. I told her it wasn’t necessary, she can use the phone as much as she liked. That I don’t take payment for anything,as this was my service to God. It was also my pride to be honest. Elizabeth being Elizabeth said, with her Texas drawl. Listen to me honey. God told me to give this to you, and if He tells me to do something I do it. Do you want me to disobey Him. Not only that you would be robbing me of a blessing. It took me a long time to learn to receive. It is very easy to give. She visited with us now and again, but always went back to Africa, then she had to go into hospital for a heart operation, sadly she did not make it.She loved Africa, the beauty of it, especially waterfalls.

Thank you for telling me about her.she really was a remarkable lady.

Your welcome. Now let me get my boots on ,and we can go enjoy some of this new snow that’s fallen.

The End.

I honestly don’t think I can put into words how much your story moved me. There’s just one idea I wanted to share I truly believe your story has the potential to become an amazing comic or webtoon. It feels so alive and immersive that people would naturally look forward to every new update and search for your work more and more.

I’m saying this as someone who deeply loves stories and also works as a commissioned artist. If you’re open to it, I’d be happy to show you some of my work. I genuinely feel that if we collaborate, your story could reach a much wider audience very quickly.

If this sounds interesting to you, please feel free to message me on IG at elsaa.uwu. I would really love the chance to work with you
