The struggle back to civilization was hard but Victoria would overcome a lot to get back home.
Home what a strange word with such a powerful meaning.
After the Global Warming no one was prepared for people did what they could to survive.
This crisis taught you who really were your friends.
You would have taught after the pandemic of 2019 that people would learn to work together.
But as usual crisis seems to bring out people true character.
Thought Victoria as she sees the statue of Liberty still standing.
New York was one of several states hit hard by the Global Warming as the ashes of burning wood and flesh finally clearing the air.
Victoria thought her family and friends would help her during the crisis but she left behind consider useless.
The shock and outrage also destroyed Victoria but faith and her upbringing kept her sane.
The things she did and things that they tried to get her to do to make back to New York were unethical.
But she was willing to make her confession to God and those she hurt when time presented it.
Looking at the statue as she exit the boat Victoria heads home.
Not knowing if her family survived the heatwave or the fire after they left her behind that night.
That night wakening up to empty brownstone and screaming coming across the street.
Victoria vowed she would return home no matter what it takes.
And take it did.
People she would have never met in life taught her survival skills that kept her alive.
The bargain and trading skills she already had but for merchandise not people.
People those defensive souls who had no money or skills were bargain off as chips in a poker game.
Knowing that she would suffer for this sin the only thing kept Victoria alive was faith and family.
Family that had left her behind to die would now see a Victoria who knew her enemy and welcome all challenger.
Once onto the docks Victoria heads back to her home.
The Uber driver was 5 minutes late but Victoria took the lift to her home.
Not knowing if it was still standing are pile of ashes; Victoria heads to one place she loved.
The Uber driver arrives at the address as Victoria looks at the brownstone.
Still standing as if it dare the world to challenge it's existence.
Victoria pays the Uber driver as she exit out of the car.
Going up to the steps of the brownstone Victoria was about to insert her keys when door was open.
Open by the woman she called mother as one looked at the other.
The silence was deafening but Mrs. Walts was the first to speak.
"Victoria we're so glad to see you and that you made it through the Global Warming said mother".
Is this some kind of joke thought Victoria to herself but to her mother she replied.
"That's news to me replied Victoria; since you left me behind to die".
"Victoria I don't understand what you're talking about said her mother".
"We went out to dinner that night and you were asleep; instead of waking you up we just went to Frenchie to eat".
"While there the Global Warming crisis struck and by the time we got back home you were gone said Mother".
"Nobody knew were you had gone and we've been looking for you for last four years said Mother"
No said Victoria in her head this can't be true; because the things she did were based on her parents desertions.
This means she wasn't a victim only a person who had overslept her alarm clock.
And that's when it hit her as Victoria draws out her gun and shoots her mother then walks up hallway to do same to her father.
Dialing 911 to report a double homicide Victoria waits for the police to come and arrest her.
She just couldn't accept the fact that all that suffering was for nothing; it was better to keep the story the way she made it.
As police officer surround the house and than enter through the front door.
They find Victoria watching the television over her parents dead body.
"Can you tell us what took place here said Sergeant Miles?"
Turning the television down and looking up at Sergeant Miles Victoria respond.
"I was abandoned by my father and mother said Victoria".
" During this Global Warming crisis I was considered useless and left behind said Victoria".
"And this is your way of paying them back said Sergeant Miles".
"This crisis has define too me the definition of the word useless"
"Using people for your own personal means isn't something you can get used to said Victoria"
"Unless you convince yourself that it's for the greater good"
"Those four years into a world that I only seen in movies or magazines taught me a lot about useless".
"And being left alone to die by those who are supposed to protect you taught me a lot in life said Victoria".
"Once I confronted those who cost me my comfort zone and peace"
"I finally understood the meaning of useless and they fit it to a tee said Victoria".
"Well I hope it taught you how to survive prison said Sergeant Miles".
Knowing that he was trying to invoke a response from her.
Victoria takes her time in responding to Sergeant Miles question.
After what seems like hours Victoria answers Sergeant Miles question.
"That's what being left behind teaches you Sergeant Miles".
"No one is your friend and you're always alone said Victoria".
"Isn't that what prison alike says Victoria?"
"Yes, said Sergeant Miles as they escorts Victoria to the police car".
"Can you believe that someone would go through a crisis like Global Warming only to become a murderer said Rookie ".
"Yes said Sergeant Miles"
"If you want to really want to know how family and friends feel about you become rich"
"They always show their true selves and let us get back to the station said Sergeant Miles".
