A tale of ends and time

Christian Speculative Suspense

Written in response to: "Write about someone whose time is running out." as part of The Big Break with London Writers Centre.

This night my life was required.

I've never felt quite this Tired.

So quickly, I turned my face inward towards the wall,

For I had fallen ill,

And death would surely consume me, till,

I prayed to the God of the universe to save me, extend my life for a time.

15 more years were granted as mine.

Oh the joy! That God of creation did not forget my faithfulness!

Yet a grave error did I then make puffed up in pride of my newfound fullness!

A great woe, of my own making!

I idolized my treasures, in prideful boasting!

There were men of great stature who heard of my renewed strength and vitality.

And so i showed them everything of mine, everything in my possession i hid not, a great folly.

And so the voice of God, His mouthpiece, came to me,

And began to prophesy.

I would live out my days in peace, however,

My many great possessions would be taken by another.

And my descendants would live under a curse of captivity because of my own pride.

I am undone! All because of my foolish pride.

Take heed the warning,

The Lord giveth and He taketh away, all belongs to Him, my darling.

He alone is worthy of honor, glory and praise.

So dear children, choose wisely whom you will obey this day!

Thus the story of King Hezekiah is ended.

And yet let you the reader not be so easily offended.

This story, this lesson

Many have fallen prey, they did not listen.

Is there any that comprehend?

Any that seek understanding of the end?

For surely it is fast approaching,

And far above earth in heaven is God Himself searching.

He looks down below, to the sons of man, of one who would desire wisdom,

Faith increases wisdom as is His prescribed custom.

Fear of the Lord is the beginning,

Obedience is the middle ground and faith is the principal thing.

Time may have run out for that great king, for in some way His sins found Him out,

Yet this does not have to be YOUR ending, if you take heed as you wander about.

Yet not wandering as one lost,

But as someone who counted the cost.

For there's a time Clock ticking for even YOU,

And so what will YOU do?

The end is fast coming and soon to be here,

And you must consciously choose a side here.

There's is a battle between the forces of good and the forces of evil.

Yet is the victory already won over the devil!

He may bruise the heel, yet is his very head crushed!

His bones are broken and scattered into the dust!

Time waits for none,

Not the good or the evil, all have an ending at some point, yet is the war won.

Some battles are lost, but the tide is ever in our favor,

To all whom make Christ the Lord their Savior!

Will you, Stand or yield?

Is Faith or is fear your shield?

Do you take the sword of Spirit,

Or the wages of flesh, and sin with it?

Do you share His gospel, while wearing, The shoes of good tidings of peace?

Or give in to the devices of the adversary?

What shall we liken the coming kingdom?

It is like the sound of the wind under the wings of a bird singing of freedom.

It is a child running in the fields without care,

And all his hairs are numbered by the Father with care.

It is a great tree, giving shade and shelter,

To all manner of creature,

That would dare make it their refuge and strong tower.

It is not just a place, but internal,

Just as much as it is eternal.

For the kingdom of Heaven, and the very family of God is in our connection.

Resides in the human heart, and abiding in the sacred union.

There is a level of urgency to be had, of a certainty.

That will surely decide your fate, for eternity.

The worlds riches cannot compare,

And like the foolish king, of serving idols and mammon, dont you dare.

For this world and the things in it are passing away,

Yet does God and those that are His live on always.

Urgency isn't being rushed or panicked however,

But living well, loving others even harder.

Its speaking the truth with love and grace,

And winning a soul for heaven's sake.

Its understanding the signs,

And the coming times.

Its a somber realization that time is short and fleeting,

And we must get us up, and be about our Father’s business.

Souls in peril, demand it,

The Great God commands it.

And your love filled heart longs for it.

For a world of no wars, no hunger and no suffering.

No hope deferred, no waiting room buffering.

No sickness, no death or decay,

For things we're never meant to be nor stay this way.

Choose now my dear one, whom shall you serve this day?

Do not be blown by the wind every which way.

Of much doctrine of lies and devils,

There is no end to the evils.

Yet, stand firm in the hope given to you as at the first,

When your soul first began to thirst.

Recall when YOUR life was required,

Then your moment of conversion when new life was then acquired.

I know it hurts now, but the pain of today,

Cannot compare at all with the joy that's coming in the new day.

When you were given new life and an extension of your own,

It was not done for your sake alone.

But for the refreshing of others,

For us all to love one to another.

And to take care of each other like siblings,

The end is near, let us hold fast to the good things.

In the end of all things, the world lays down with the lamb, in peace.

And a little child will lead the lions to green pastures, and all shall lay down in peace.

Hello, I just finished reading your story, and I absolutely adored it! Your writing is incredible, and I couldn’t stop imagining how fantastic it would look as a comic. I’m a professional commissioned artist, and I’d be thrilled to adapt your story into a comic format. No pressure, of course. I just think your work would shine in that medium. If you’re interested, feel free to reach out to me on Discord (laurendoesitall) Instagram (elsaa.uwu). Let me know your thoughts!
