“I surely hope that’s everything,” I said to myself as I was walking back from the grocery store in my hometown of Galveston, pulling it all from a wagon. I needed to get more food supply for the little guy. He’s been eating practically anything that I feed him. Whether it’s any type of fish, fruit or veggie, the otter wasn’t a picky eater. So after a few days, I finally went out to gather the needed essential food supply for an abandoned otter I found.
I got a couple of crab sticks packages, a pound of salmon, catfish, tilapia, all kinds of varieties of fruits and vegetables that an otter would like. As a marine biologist, I knew a few things about otters if I’m being modest. For the past few days, I developed a liking for the little guy as anyone would considering he’s just a little otter. A special one too if you ask me.
Over the past three days, I realized how different he was compared to the other otters I attended at the Aquarium at Moody Gardens. This otter, by which I called Slick 47, was quite intelligent, strong and fast. Each day, I put him to a test and found how quickly he was adapting to his nuance capabilities of which I found.
‘I need to know how Slick 47 came to be,’ I said to myself mentally as I was coming up to the waterway alley. ‘I don’t know how he was able to outspeed any regular otter, can withstand over double his weight, or solve a rubik’s cube, but Slick 47 is quite astonishing! And whatever the case may be, I need to protect at all cost.’
I walked halfway through the alley by the sea water, and came up to a fence with a door. I grabbed my keys from my fanny pack and unlocked the door. Once I had done so, I closed the door behind me and proceeded into the residence of where my cousin and I lived. Erica has been working nonstop lately considering having a double shift. She has done so much for us that I want to return the favor in some way shape or form. Either that is cooking us a healthy meal or simply getting the groceries of which I also did while gathering Slick’s food supply. I have been pulling on this cart the long entire way, filled with all sorts of stuff we use for the house and more.
I made sure to leave Slick’s food out on the cart as I dropped things out at the house. After a couple of trips, I was able to get all the groceries into the home and took out everything that needed to be put away. I’ll be cooking us some seafood alfredo with crab, scallops and shrimp once I am done with Slick. Just the thought of it made my stomach react violently and my mouth water. So I quickly grabbed a yellow apple along the way, and attended to the little guy instead.
As I grabbed my keys out to my lab shed, I could hear a lot of communion going on inside. ‘Did someone break it into the shed without me knowing?’ I asked myself as I quickly put the right key into the socket. If that was such a case, I would have been notified about it thanks to the RING security camera I placed. I turned the key to the left and opened the door to find my lab a complete and utterly mess.
All of my lab equipment was completely broken and destroyed. Meanwhile some of the furniture I have such as a futon and a recliner were ripped to shreds. My mouth dropped to the floor at this whole display. But where was Slick? Apparently I find him coming around the corner of my eye with a mouse in his mouth. After eating such a creature, he looks at me and gives me the saddest look as if to say: “I'm sorry about the mess.”
I shook my head and started to pet him, however when I did so, Slick back away as if I was going to handle him. Whatever experiencements they have done to this poor otter is heartbreaking. I use my words before my actions: “It's okay, Slick 47. I'm in no intention of hurting you whatsoever. I was simply going to give you a pet of assurance that I have forgiven you. I can understand why you are destructive, even if it's for a mouse.”
After I said what needed to be said, he crips and gives me a leg rub like a cat would. I shook my head again. This time pondering about the little guy. “You are quite a handful, I must say but worth it in the end. I'll just get new equipment starting tomorrow through AMAZON and we'll get by with the furniture. It's only a few scratches after all. It gives it character. Just please be careful and mindful where you put your claws, Slick. We don't want you to cause too much damage.”
As if on cue, Slick got up on his hind legs and was begging for food and making an omen to never to damage more again. I couldn't help but chuckle at the display the little guy was showcasing. I came down slowly and gave him a pet on the head while replying: “You're truly remarkable. I figured you'll be hungry. Thus why I went away for a bit to get your food.”
Before I knew it, Slick 47 took it upon himself by leaping onto the counter, again like a cat, to retrieve some food from me. I place the bag on the counter next to him and start grabbing a paper plate from a nearby bottom drawer. Slick even stuck his head into the bag by which I told no and he waited patiently while licking his chops.
I took out the first pack of crabs sticks and dropped them out. I next get out some strawberries and potato tomatoes as side dishes for the main course. As soon as I was done with the plate, Slick started to reach for the plate but I commented about manners. Of which he simply chirps thank you. Once I gave him the plate, he started eating out like I have never fed him.
I shook my head as I sat on the recliner just admiring the little guy. Regardless of his actions, he's still a cute little guy who you can't stay long to get mad at. As he was eating his delicious food, I had to figure out what to say for my insurance claim regarding the lab equipment.
