It was a hard training day, and thunder roared outside the game store. Inside, the siren was lying on the floor, breathing heavily, with her arms and wings spread out across the floor. "That was hard," she said, breathing heavily. Kamoss (a human wizard from another world wearing blue, gray, and red flowing robes) was smiling at her. "The warm-up set wasn't too bad. It's sparring with the angel, that part was bad," he said as a golden swirly magical energy surrounded him, and he became Jack (a human boy from this world. He was wearing jeans and a polo shirt with his school's logo on it. "Yeah, well, at least, you don't feel all the pain, all the time.' said the siren, still breathing heavily. "Hey, that just means you're stronger than me," said Jack. "You do know you resisted my charms, flirts, and songs for months, right?" said the siren, slowly relaxing and sitting up. Her wings began to retract into her back. "Yeah, well, half the reason I was able to was because of Nick and the other Dice Changers. I had been alone the entire time I would've fallen," said Jack. "Wait, really? But didn't you say that you were forced to 'drink the poison' to resist lustful temptations?" asked the siren. "I did, and that alone wasn't enough," answered Jack. "Huh, that would've been nice to know, I guess, but then again..." The siren stands up and gets really close to Jack. "I wouldn't have been able to be yours," she said as she kissed his cheek and walked away. "I...I..." Jack couldn't get the words out. "'Liked it?' Thank you," interrupted the siren as she grabbed her gym bag and went into the bathroom. Thunder roared once more.
Six months ago, the siren was in the store. She had been spared from being massacred like her friends by the Dice Changers. Now here she was walking into their meeting spot like an old friend. She never felt more isolated, alone, and scared in her life. Yet, most of the members didn't seem to care that she was once their enemy. The Dice Changes had a routine of coming in, doing homework, train, and then playing video games. Until Mia showed up, in which case they hid the siren from her. Usually, Jack, Nick, or Trevor would pull her behind a shelf, push her into a room, or shove her under a table. Mostly, because they didn't want Mia freaking out and getting PTSD from what the other sirens had done to her. This would become routine. Show up, do homework or a school project, train, hide, then leave. Then, three months later, while a storm hit the game store, the angel asked for Jack and the siren to come into his office for a talk. Both were confused as to why the angel asked for them. "I see that the little siren is adjusting to our little piece of heaven, and Jack, you're becoming more open to the group. Now with that aside. I've been told that you two would make quite the couple-" before the angel could finish, Jack interruputed. "Her? She's not even a believer. I can't date someone like her. It. It goes against my core principles," cried Jack. "I'm sorry, but have you forgotten about Hosea? Or what about Rehab? Or better yet, the entire nation of Israel? Is this siren not like them?" asked the angel. "Well, last time I checked, none got demon powers," said Jack. "Oh, my gosh, Jack. You are no better than the Pharisees or all the other legalistic religious zealots. This siren needs you to guide her, not me, not the others, you. This is to be your job. It's also God's will. So, there's also that if you need more convincing," said the angel. He then turned toward the siren. "Now, as for you. You'll need to learn everything about the faith. Ask questions. Read. Train. Study. Then, when you're ready. You'll be batispied. Just like everyone else, hopefully," said the angel, smiling. A couple of days later, Jack and the siren told everyone, except Mia, that they were going to start dating. The group celebrated and embraced the siren as a sister. Over the course of several weeks, the siren felt at home. Her new friends answered questions, had debates, and theorized about the faith. They trained with the angel, studied for school, and played video games.
Those memories made the siren realize how much she had grown up to love this place, the people, despite all the tough training days, the terrible weather, and the stresses of school. All went away when she was here. Thunder cracked and roared, but the siren was unfazed. The siren then made her way up to the store counter, where the angel was. She slapped her gym bag on the counter. "I want to be baptised," she said. "About time, but first, are you sure you want to do this? And are you sure you want to give all your heart to Christ?" said the angel. A slight smile was forming in the corner of his mouth. "I've been thinking, and reflecting, and meditating, and I have never felt so...so loved before. Even though Jack doesn't want to admit it but he's becoming more open to me, more vulnerable, and I now see the man I wish to marry one day. I also see that my powers, despite coming from a demonic source, can be used for good and God's glory. I want to join you guys. I want to join the Dice Changers," said the siren. Her eyes sparkled, her face glowed. "Well then. Pray with me, and we'll get the rest of the gang to witness you becoming a follower. The siren started to shed tears before the prayer even began. Then the angel started praying, and the emotion was overwhelming. The siren couldn't stop crying, her hands started to shake, and her legs felt like they were going to give out. Then she felt a hand on her shoulder. She tried to take a peek at who it was, but her tears blurred out whoever it was. Then another hand was placed on her shoulder, and another hand grabbed her forearm. She heard whispers but couldn't quite pinpoint who was who. A fourth hand was felt against her back, and a fifth was felt between her neck and shoulder. When the angel was done praying. The siren then gave her confession. Despite struggling with words from crying, she managed to get through. Then she opened her eyes and saw the Dice Changes surrounding her. Then she saw Mia. Just the mere sight of her caused her to ugly cry and hug Mia. Mia joined in, embracing her. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry for everything," cried the siren. "Sshh. Sshh. It's fine. It wasn't you. It wasn't you, I...I will forgive you," said Mia as she then began ugly crying as well. Trevor, Nick, and the angel were holding back tears, with little success. Arron and Jack hugged each other, relieved that they didn't have to continue hiding the siren any longer. Thunder roared once more, but its presence was ignored.
After a massive group hug, everyone regained their composure. The storm settled down. "Alright, everybody, get out of here. I bet your parents are tired of waiting for you," said the angel. Everyone got their stuff and left, except for Jack and the siren. "Hey, Jack, I think something is scratching my back. Can you take a look at it?" she asked as she walked to the mat and summoned her black bat wings. Jack lifted up her shirt around the wings and noticed something featherly poking out. He reached for it and tugged on it. "OW!" shrieked the siren. "Sorry, but I think I see feathers? It's near where your wings come out of your back," said Jack. "Feathers? That's new. Wait, come it be? Angel wings?" asked the siren. "Might be. Hold on," said Jack as he plucked a feather. The scream shrieked again and flew upward, nearly crashing into a wall. "Jack, that hurt," said the siren, trying to rub the area but struggling to reach it. "Well, I got a feather," said Jack, holding up a feather that was fading from black to white. "What does that mean, though?" asked the siren as she landed back onto the mat. "You're transforming into a new creation, I think," said Jack hesitantly. "What does that mean?" asked the siren. "It means when you get baptized, your wings will change," said Jack. "Wow," said the siren. She took the feather and looked at it. "So just like my heart, my wings will change too? Awesome!" said the siren excitedly, holding up the feather high.
