Johnny Katz had always wanted to be a screenwriter. He had gotten a job working for a notorious producer Jeffrey Boothe. Jeffrey was always the sort of toxic boss to pick on newcomers to his crew -- he had picked on Eliott Brun who was on his way out into a better studio that'd treat him with respect. Johnny was now the go-to-person for writing the scripts and often doing the necessary edits.
However, one morning as Jeffrey sat at his desk his old rival from acting school arrived -- Nash Thundercloud, a Cherokee reality television show host. Now Nash was the one who always enjoyed the newcomers in contrast to Jeffrey. He had heard of Eliott quitting his job because of Jeffrey's toxic behavior. Jeffrey wasn't the only toxic individual in the studios -- there was Carl Cook the lead actor who'd often mock newcomer's scripts and then Conner White the main director who'd change things here and there. Nash walked in right past the front counter where Ms. Christie Bell sat.
"Hey, you're not supposed to barge in like that!" cried Christie.
"Do you realize who you are talking to? I'm Nash Thundercloud, reality television show host with the most!" bellowed Nash.
Nash's booming voice could be heard by Johnny as he arrived for work. He couldn't believe a reality television host was at the studio. Nash burst right through the hallway and eventually to Jeffrey's office. Jeffrey was just getting ready for the day.
"Hey, you don't have an appointment who do you think you are barging in here like this?" asked Jeffrey.
"Why Jeffrey, I'm shocked that you'd not have any time for your best friend," said Nash.
Best friend? You got to be kidding -- Jeffrey sat down in his seat.
"What is do you want Nash?" asked Jeffrey as he sat down.
"A bet, I want you to have your newest screenwriter become an actor" continued Nash.
Jeffrey burst out with laughter.
"Are you insane, Johnny doesn't know how to act, Eliott at least went to acting school aside from doing a few screenwriting courses" continued Jeffrey.
"Quit being so dismissive Jeffy, get this new kid Johnny Katz on your set today he shouldn't be sitting around his computer," said Nash.
If there was one thing Nash hated about screenwriters -- they were too much of a nerd-like type. Always sitting around at the computer desk instead of being out and about. No different from having a home office. Jeffrey thought for a moment.
"Why can't he just be an extra?" asked Jeffrey.
"No, no, no that won't do you know I want him to be something much more than that," said Nash.
"Carl's not going to like it," said Jeffrey.
"I don't care what Carl thinks, I care what I think" continued Nash.
Nash was being blunt and to the point on what he wanted Johnny to do. He wanted Johnny to be a co-star. But Carl wasn't the sort of person to share -- he was used to having someone like Violet Price as his co-star instead of someone like Johnny. Jeffrey sighed having no choice in the matter -- he invited Johnny into the office.
"You're not in trouble Johnny, but Nash wants me to include you in your own script," said Jeffrey.
Johnny was perplexed by this -- he had never been an actor before.
"Think of it as going outside your comfort zone," said Jeffrey.
"But I hate public speaking, and acting is part of it," said Johnny.
"Come on Johnny, do it for me or my reputation will drop like a rock thanks to Nash," said Jeffrey.
Jeffrey knew he'd be on the ropes if he didn't do this task -- Johnny knew it as well. He could see it in Jeffrey's eyes that he wasn't kidding around.
"Fine, I'll do it," said Johnny.
"That a boy, you'll be on the set this afternoon with Carl and Violet," said Jeffrey.
Johnny sighed as he had no choice -- he wrote his script for the day before arriving on the set. It was an old Western setting where Johnny would play the villain for a change. Johnny particularly wasn't a bad guy, and the villain cowboy bad guy outfit made him feel nervous.
"You definitely look the part," said Violet.
"I don't know, I look silly in this," said Johnny.
Johnny was a fish out of water, literally speaking in a role he never asked for -- playing the part of the bad guy. Nash of all people was also there on the set this time as the bank manager with another extra as the front counter clerk. Johnny strolled right in doing his best trying to look like the tough guy in the picture.
"Look who it is," laughed Nash.
"Uh, stick em up partner," said Johnny.
That was Johnny's best line he could think of since he didn't have time to read the same script he was typing.
"Dear me, what are you going to do to us?!" cried Nash.
Johnny brought out some rope and tied up Nash and the extra actor as best as he could. As Johnny ran with the money out in the open there were two duties on sight with Violet and Carl playing their parts as the brother-sister sheriff duo.
"Stick em up!" bellowed Violet as she drew her gun.
Johnny was hesitant in in taking out his gun.
"Come on do it, it's part of the act" whispered Jeffrey.
Johnny pulled out his pistol and fired at Carl -- Carl stumbled.
"He's got me sis!" cried Carl as he was holding onto his heart.
"I'll get him!" cried Violet.
Violet fired a few shots at Johnny -- Johnny didn't get the cue of going down.
"He's some kind of magical villain!" cried Violet.
Those were not the lines, but Jeffrey and Connor ran with it.
"Yea, that's right, and I am going to be the boss around these parts from now on" said Johnny who was finally getting into the mood.
"Okay, that's a cut!" cried Connor.
Connor was pleased with Johnny's first day on the job -- Nash was untied by the crew along with the extra. He dusted himself off.
"Well done, Johnny, told you that you could pull it off" laughed Nash.
Johnny smiled, for once he was feeling like he made a difference and he did it without taking a single acting class at all.

This tale portrays a contrast between the characters, and brilliantly turns a scene into a spoof like happy ending. The sense of fun does permeate this story, as the writer explores the plot to respond to the prompt. Very smooth interplay of dialogue and interactions.
