One day, Darien was looking around outside and helping his friend to clean his big shed. He had lots of collectibles and they were historical in nature. They were old cars, trains, and even bicycles. Then, there were old tracks for them to be driven on. There were model cities and fake trees. Most kids were not used to this kind of thing. Some really thought it was different. In the small city where he lived, there was about one-hundred people. It was just not completely developed yet. Everyone was trying to figure out what they would do, and who they were. Some of them liked to make things, some of them were good leaders; and others would just listen to their people talk about different things that they were going through.
Darien got to know Shelley, Maria, Austin, and Andrew. They were all very kind and helpful. They seemed to not yet know what to do. They wanted to figure things out. So they decided to try to get to know each other. It was a good thing they did, because they were smart people. It was decided that they would try to learn ways of better communicating. They all took turns practicing speech skills. A while later, they talked about what they would do to build each other up. They worked together as a team, and no one really would be left out.
They finally got more used to each other and learned each other's names. Everyone felt happy to be able to help somebody. They all could say that their training was in progress. They didn't write journals, but they kept notes.
Darien went back out to the shed, and admired the collection. His friend's name that he was helping was Austin. Austin was a country boy that enjoyed the open outdoors. He didn't care for loud city life. His parents, named Larry, and Maria were calm and friendly. They were very vigilant against outsiders that meant harm. Maria always tried to make sure that the visitors to their home felt relaxed. The way they knew someone wanted to make a friend was through social cues. Did they open a door, did they meet at a place both frequented to go? Were they kind and helpful in daily life? There were many families from all different ages. Most were middle aged, and then the rest were older. There were very few of them kids. Maybe only about twenty or so.
Everyone that came to a outdoor meeting wanted to build up the small country town. Some of the suggestions made were to build the city by trades, and to introduce each person according to closeness in age. They knew their town would grow. And anyone that came from somewhere else that wanted to join them would have a trade, or help build something. A few of the families would build with wood, others stone or rocks. Then, there was the possibility to one day integrate with the city. No one had yet considered that. It was talked of every now and then. Then, the residents decided they would try it out. So everyone took a vote and decided ways to make it happen. One of the ways was to write a note or two and send it to city officials. To ask for help to start making their community to grow into a place of service; and a community for collectors to share what they liked. They also asked the city team what they would collect. They said more like baskets, metal work pieces, carved objects, and themed artworks.
They knew that some of their people were creative. They could make something together. Everyone would try and the ones that couldn't make art could help to display or store it. They put it out to show everyone what they had; and the city folks came out to see one day. They were kind of surprised the country people knew about some of what they did. They wanted to learn whatever they would like. Many country folks were restless and needed to learn something new. City people were kind of tired from working all the time. They were always going from one job to the other. They needed to have a place to just relax and unwind.
Darien said to everyone do you City folks like it here? Would you consider coming back to learn more about us? The city folks said yes they would.
So everyone wanted to be able to branch out and look around. Darien took the people outside of the shed and showed them gardens and how to till the soil. They were happy to learn to make some good healthy foods.
All of the people enjoyed time outside playing and watching the sun rise and set. They went out and fished together. They were showed how to swim. Everyone felt that they could learn. No one really realized they could be a part of anything different.
Parents talked to other parents, some found that they had many relatives. Some of the names were Toole, Brookes, Jolly, and Smith.
Other names were Halls, Jess, Maple, and Grant. Everyone had a chance to learn their family history. Some of the city people had traveled more. They went to places that were also of city origin. Some of the cities seemed to grow faster than others though. The city people knew the country folks needed more ministers, and guides to help them when life became harder. They assigned to the people some ministers and leaders. If they were very young they could have a caretaker or a teacher. Teachers would teach about manners, community help, team work, kindness, and staying healthy by exercising and proper nutrition.
As the kids grew, they would look back on their time in the place they grew up. Some of them had to move to the opposite place to help their families. That was one way of development for them. Others would stay and help family where they were. Many times friends would be more like family. They were happy to have any help they could. Everybody would think back on times when they loved to collect small items. Over time they could collect bigger things. They could say that they were all searching for a specific item. Many items were of less value, but every so often they found more precious ones. Such as jewelry, china, art works, vases or pottery. Some of the men found more useful items for the garden and for the home for cooking.
