Once he fell she knew. When they all are falling in the exact same way she had seen before.
Not being able to understand how she knew or even seen it happen what felt like so long ago, all she wanted to do was crawl in the nearest crater until it was al over. That is all she has ever done though.
At the age of seven when her bike chain broke off and she flipped into the street in front of an incoming vehicle, she ran for her life and dove into the neighbors dog house for hours until her dad found her.
When her mom left she hid her self in her best friend’s pool house for two weeks. Her dad had to pull his law cards into effect against them, forcing her to go back home willingly. Her Dad has never been one for comfort, that is why she always went to her mom. She always knew how to soothe her and somehow knew exactly what she needed to hear. She can still hear her exact words in her voice through her memories:
“You are special, bug. In ways you can’t even imagine yet. I believe you will reach for the light of the stars, but in order to do that you have to push yourself as far as it the light will take you. Though also you need to be able to feel the dark too, sometimes stew in it before you climb your way out. Everyone is ready at their own pace. That is why you always try to hide at first instinct, that is how you know you are ready to push forward.”
One loose tear slides down her cheek as she remembers the words she needed, her eyes are still closed as she feels through the dark once again. The thing she has always done. This time was different though.
She was the only hope left for everyone.
She could feel something new at her fingertips, a static that she’s felt only once before when she had realized everyone had been lying to her about the truth behind it for so long. The truth that her mother left and became so mentally ill over her father’s betrayal she felt driven to ending her own life. To leaving behind the one person who needed her the most.
As if a broken bone had snapped back into place, something flipped in her mind. Her eyes snap open, only they weren’t the normal sea green they always had been.
No. They had turned into a flare of emerald greens that glowed as aurora borealis. strikingly beautiful and fierce all at once. The feeling of so much energy pent up for years coursing through her veins. It almost feels too much but then she finally lets out a screech so terrifying with her arm flying in front of her to aim at the monster racing to his body.
A strike of bright green light shot through her fingers at it, sending it into the wall twenty feet from it. Immediately following her inner voice to race to her best friend to get him somewhere safe. She notices his wound below the rib cage, he’s losing so much blood.
“Lee. Go. Get out of here” his choking on his own blood cuts him off.
“No. I am done hiding to remain safe. I have spent too much time in the dark waiting for someone to save us, I will handle it from now on.” He looks at her in a way he hasn’t before. Like he is seeing a whole new version of his best friend after all this time. Not to admit he hasn’t known this version was definitely in there. He did and he couldn’t be more proud.
As if she knew exactly what to do with this new gift of her. Even if she is still trying to logically explain it in her own head. She felt a new kind of surge of energy fill up inside of her opposite hand, places it over the flesh wound.
As the power flows from her to him she doesn’t see the same green glow as she did before, no it is a blue this time. The young man lets his head fall back against the ground finally as if holding it up was too much energy.
She notices his head flop against the ground, shaking him to consciousness but she realized he had only fainted from the healing. As she continues she stifles back a laugh, despite the situation. Then she feels a strange trickle up the back of her spine, familiar enough to send her spinning around instinctively shielding her friend.
A satisfied chuckle arises from its throat, “well well, what have we here?” It circling around them with hungry eyes. Hunger for more power. “You know I have more experience with your kind than anyone can say. Tell me Leanna.. what was the traumatic event that triggered this strength.”
She doesn’t answer, only shooting a glare while she keeps her focus on protecting her friend. Another malicious chuckle from it. “You seem to have had quite a few of those events through your sad, sad life haven’t you?” She knows its trying to bait her. Her face stern still. She starts to turn to look at it again as it appears nearly in inch from her face. “I can show you how to harness all that power properly you know.. I can save your previous bestie and leave this tortured, annoying body of your other friend finally and then I will leave your precious town alone for good.”
She closes her eyes again to configure the possible solution. Yes that would mean to sacrifice her self to the damn thing, but then again Celeste would be free and able to finish what she started. Even if it is without her, she still has Grayson by her side with saving herself as motivation. She knows that will be enough to finish and win.
“Fine. Only if you keep your word and leave her essence intact and heal him to full health. Only then I will go with you.” The malicious grin returns to the face it was still wearing. The same face she had seen some how knew her life was about to change forever.
It raised her hand to meet hers, feeling how ice cold it had felt. So cold it might have left a burnt mark. In the shape of a strange ruin that she has a feeling it will bite her in the ass eventually. That doesn’t matter though.
All that matters is that her friends will be safe for today.
Then they will prepare once again and return the favor.
They have to.
If they want to save her and end this beast once and for all.
Who knows what this monster could do with whatever all this power can do.

Strange story, it really doesn't track with me. It is a little disjointed and needs a slight revision. Explain the friendships first then enter the presence. Tell a little about Celeste's mannerisms before and after the possession. I like the reference to hiding from her feelings, but running away and hiding in a dog house when she is facing a vehicle doesn't track. Tell about how she survives the near miss of the car and runs and hides. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for this. It’s a little piece from my current work in progress actually and needed this input. I will definitely keep these in mind the further I go and in the editing process.
