Where Genie wont belong.
I Don’t belong here I don’t belong here I don’t .Genie was still muttering as she awoke in her same oversized bed fitted with the softest silk sheets and satin pillowcases…overhead was the same tapestry and the Persian palace mural on the wall she remembered drawing…yesterday or was it last week? Lately, well since she could remember everything was a blur.
All she had was a velvet file book to know who she was.On the front was gold engraving entitled the stories I gave. Full of pictures of what looked like her drawings of far away places she could only dream of…on the last page she had left her name signed Genie.
From her balcony she could see a winding path. She had tried traveling several times but had only awoken back in the oversized bed she remembered always waking up in.
Every morning when she awoke there was delicious plates of gourmet feasts, the same sort of banquet she’d remembered dreaming of while she slept.
Today was no exception. She had dreamt she was in a faraway palace, a prince was singing . His melodic voice echoing through the palace towers . There was a ball and she had made an entrance in a gold glistening gown circling and twirling on the dance floor. Everyone around seemed to recognize her and were cheering and applauding her entertaining them.
Just like in her dreams the table was now filled with spicy teas, Moroccan lentils, cheeses and crusted breads.
Genie spent most of her days trying to remember her past, her identity. So much seemed like a dream. Maybe even magical.
She was searching through the shelf of books that was always available and noticed one seemed very new.
She immediately drew her fingers upon the spine sending a chill through her veins. She released the book from it’s place.
The front cover showed a young man on a rug with what looked like a picnic setting. The moon shining in the background, a lamp the only light and vast amounts of gold coins shimmering. It was labelled Aladdin. Genie thought she recognized the lamp from some of her belongings in the old gold chest at the end of her bed.She turned the book open…a dim glow seemed to shine forth. Words began to appear upon the blank page. As she turned pages more words began to appear. The story told of a prince named Aladdin, he could read minds and weave magic. He had weaved the magical rug shed noticed on the front cover. He had used it to escape his stepbrother Inn. Inn was hoping to beat his brother Aladdin to the throne. The magical kingdom was named knox. Inn had learned sorcery from a young age and also knew how to create gold lamps. He had used his sorcery upon Aladdin rolling him up in his magical rug and dissipating him to be trapped inside the lamp. Aladdin with his powerful mind could be anywhere do anything inside the lamp except escape.Eventually a princess from a far away land was given to Inn to be his queen. Her name was Genie.
Genie! The next page read in large bold writing .If your reading this we are trapped yet again. The answer lies with in.look closer in. You don’t be long. Trapped Within don’t belong closer in Genie thought. I am trapped within Genie thought and I know I don’t belong. But Genie had searched all over. There was only the golden path to escape and she never remembers what happens down that winding path. In Genie repeated I need to look within.
Genie hurried to the golden chest opening it to find the gold lamp like on the cover of the book. “Within don’t be long?” She rummaged and finally found it..holding it up to the sunlight there was a faint glow. Genie was still mumbling to herself don’t be long while rubbing what looked like grease off the lamp
Suddenly the lamb started to growl and rumble like a kettle on fire…colorful lights spun and weaved through her room…shooting waves of magic everywhere..
As all the magic waned Genie stared stunned there was the rug from the cover of the book. She quickly unrolled the rug.
A young man was laying in the rug asleep
Half asleep he awoke. Genie stood back.
“ Don’t mind me” he announced. It’s me Aladdin see…he gasped with glee.I have the magic rug I’m here to save you. You don’t belong here Genie.
Aladdin pulled something from his pocket then. A blue flower. He bent to ask her to take and motioned for her to sniff from the petals.
Genie did so and as she did all her memories came flooding back. She remembered Aladdin the lamp he was trapped in . She remembered the many battles against Inn the evil sorcerer. She had managed a spell upon Aladdin to allow him to still use his mind power and the map but the sorcerer Inn had trapped her in her dreams.
Now that Aladdin and the magical flying rug was here they could escape. Never be with inn ever again. It won’t be long now and they’d be free. And so would their hearts and minds.
Aladdin and Genie flew out from the balcony on the magical flying rug down the golden path. Looking back at what Genie thought was a palace now looked like a broken down old tavern or inn..how fitting for the sorceress that had trapped them. Genie knew inn would never find them ever again.
Of all the memories that had returned to her Aladdin were the most precious of hers. She had remembered they both came from a magical far away galaxy once upon a time. She remembered her powers being anything she thought she could make real.
Which explains now why when she dreamt of food it would appear just the same as in her dream.
She wondered now as she always did where Aladdin would like to travel too for they could go anywhere their wildest most wonderful thoughts could dream.
Aladdin and Genie finally embraced and up in the clouds they flew forever embraced together where they belong in each other dreams. In each other's minds forever. Yet Genie knew Aladdin would never leave their future kingdom at the begging mercy of the sorcerer Inn. She knew exactly where to send their minds too. A time before, the kingdom long ago before sorcery was known to Inn. They would defeat Inn long before he ever had a chance to trap them within and they would finally belong to their destiny and their fate. Their kingdom safe and they could compassionately rule before all the tragedy had been.Aladdin and Genie shared a smile in full knowledge of their future. They both closed their eyes and began to dream.
The end
