Wait. A. Second.
Do you have a minute to spare? To learn nonsensical nonsense like understanding a different language for the first (or in my case, umpteenth time)
While I cite here, the experts—you know the ones the they who always know when we are wrong or right-who say like 50, or 60, or 70 percent of language is unspoken….Come to discover, well at least what the search engine drives is communication cannot be clearly broken down it fixed math rules.(ai)
Aha! I knew it. I just knew it— and not because I am sub par at math☺️. Take that Pi R Squared thinkers of 1+1=2.
There is more to this wisdom than meets the eye.
To put the wisdom in context, the definition of language, pure and simple should be understood, or at the least decipherable.
I attacked today’s prompt with the hunger of someone trying to ‘get it right.’ A gigantic ally ginormous “feel” for someone who learns the hard way. Sometimes the only way through is—through. Along with the bumps and bruises of ‘what just happened’ piggy backing on ‘what can happen’ may be a purgatorial conundrum of up or down, back or forth, left, right, stand up sit down fight, fight, fight.
Whatever happened to, “We are all in this together?”
Well.
I think the movement turned into, “Every man for himself.” (Relax ladies) There are good ways to conduct one’s personal business without dragging the ugly into the mud and muddled of my truth and your consequences.
Like a developing baby, babbling and cooing while trying to have their needs met, some adults lose the way of right and wrong.
The result?
A tentacled mess of bawl and brawls- both of the verbal, type, and June Doe’s pop- out-of-the-wood works. Desperately trying to clear their mess and dump it, anywhere and everywhere. In the hands and the communication device of whoever, because it is darn easier than looking honesty square in the eye of the beholder and/or mirror.
Brings me to the wisdom of today’s essay.
Expressive language.
Yea.
Language of expressions.
Short 10 question quiz:
Without looking up the answer.
What do these expressions mean in the year 2026:
🙂=?
🙃=?
🫒=?
✌🏻=?
🗓️=?
😫=?
😤=?
🦷=?
🗣️=?
🫵🏻=?
There is no real score of success or failure.
Just interpretation of the nuances of the what if’s and whodunnits.
Anyway. This quiz example would suffice to say there are no words….right?
For some the mere word ‘test’, ‘exam’ ‘quiz’, ‘race’ would send their autonomic nervous system response into a maelstrom of fear and shut down before the first pencil mark.
Society: Just do it, finish. Whatever.
The results come in and are a carbon copy of the synapses freaking out while trying to assess an unanswerable answer.
Cram.Study. Repeat. Re-do hoping that along the way we somehow became smarter than we were before or simply more de-jected than we used to be. Two sides of the same coin if ya’ ask me-and remember I have issues with the faces on the coins, and what they all mean….
’If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”
Okeedokee. Will do. The good news with this practice is, He guides the oopsies and the ‘uh-duhs’ to better places, spaces and ways.
The 1+1=2 guys? They get the answer and never look back.
There is a problem with the know-it-all finality of getting the answer correct every time. The solution is answered so rotely and perfectly, there seems to be little if any room for growth. Yeah? Nope?
For a middle of the road thinker, like me, I reply,
’I dunno.’
Which I don’t think makes me dumber than dumber, blonder than brunettes, shorter or taller, well-endowed or flat.
Differences. They make us who we are.
Once the price tag is affixed to who is better or worse, prettier or not, handsome or not, the whole game changes. The whole game. Changes.
Could this be a good thing🤔?
I dunno.
The Famous “93%Rule? Is it a Myth? It used to say that 93% of communication is non verbal.
How do ya like them apples and oranges?
The breakdown being: 55% body language, 38% tone of voice, and only 7% spoken words.
All I have to say to this is:🤓
Short of stomping my feet and flipping the bird, I honestly am at a loss for words.
Which brings to us the gray area of the gray matter and the the troubled middle of the higher-ups and the low-men-on-the-totem pole.
Where do we go from here?
’For the things we have to learn before we can do, we learn by doing.’
Uh Duh. This makes perfect common sense to me.
Aristotle. Before our time and after our time—A voice of reason.
Of course, a baby must crawl before he or she walks.
A baby must fall down in order to know how to get up.
A baby cries to see who is watching them fall and get up.
A baby launches their applesauce across the room to see who runs fastest to feed them again.
We surely can learn a thing or two about a baby’s motivations and intentions.
Survival.
What we may never be able to decipher is the reactions of the adults in the baby’s orbit. Adult-like emotions may surface in the months up to toddlerhood—the time of toddler life where every tangible item is ‘ Mine.’ When the toddler grows up and stills believes every tangible item is ‘ Mine.’ We have issues, we have problems.
Somewhere a long the line basic decency and goodness left the room. The slop of the applesauce was left for someone else and the baby was watching the whole time.
Sad. Really.
No one is to blame and we all play a part in the deception that we are right and you are wrong.
Depending upon your viewpoint of things, patterns can be doomed to be repeated.
Or.
Chains can be broken. Once and for all.
I dunno.
When the baby learns to utter the first words of wisdom, I hope he or she will give us a piece of their mind. It’s a sign. Of things to come. Or is it?
