Being Fired

"You know they're going to fire her; said Karen to the other employees".

"Why, when Mrs. Constance is always on time and does her job to the fullest; said Marie the company leader"?

" It's not here performance but her ability to work with others and lack of compassion for others problems said Karen".

" I believe that the word said that charity begins at home first so I understand Mrs. Constance complaint on how she was left out when it was her idea said Marie".

"You've to understand policy's and favors to get ahead in this world said Karen".

"I think you mean the willingness to sell out others to get a reward that was never yours; said Marie.

"I need everyone attention said the floor manager Melissa.

"I know you may heard rumors about Mrs. Constance situation but the truth is that she left on her own".

"You mean you forced her out and took credit for her work; replied Marie".

"Who, said that asked Melissa the floor manager "?

"Their only thirty employees over on the delivery station; and eventually I will get the answer to my question".

Not wanting to be a tattle tail Karen decides speak up for Marie before she gets fired.

"I don't think anyone was rebuking your statement but only expressing concern for Mrs. Constance and her years of service".

Melissa truly agreed with Mrs. Constance stance concerning her ideas and her creativity she used helped the company growth.

But some companies don't know how to appreciate a blessing and Barber Foods was one of those companies.

Instead of giving Mrs. Constance her credit for her ideas and growth of the company; they chose to slander her name.

To the group Melissa responded this way.

"Mrs. Constance will receive her full benefits and be able to submit her ideas to others companies".

"As for now this is the last we will be talking about Mrs. Constance and I'll start

row call".

To think ten years of service to a company only gives you a five minutes pep talk said Marie to herself.

"Marie, said Melissa during role call.

"Present said Marie just long enough to start looking for another job".

"Marie, you seemed angry said Karen".

Thinking about before she respond Marie finally put a name on the emotion she was feeling and it was outrage

Focusing back to the present Marie address Karen.

"I'm not angry Karen but outrage that people like you and me will let a tradegy happen to a good person just to keep our jobs".

"What tradegy said Karen"?

"The fact that you asked that question speaks volumes about you that you'll never understand said Marie".

Shocked and surprised that Marie would care that much about Mrs. Constance.

Karen waited for Melissa to dismiss them before address Marie again.

"Marie we've been friends for a long time and I don't want us to become enemies over someone else decision ".

Trying her hardest not to become angry with Karen; Marie tries another approach.

"Karen you've been with this company for at least 20 years said Marie".

"I've been with this company for 19 years, 3 months and 22 minutes but who's counting said Karen".

"Exactly said Marie and if you had been blessed with Mrs. Constance creativity and tried to be a help to a company you've worked for last ten years".

"How would you feel", said Marie?

No one had put it to her that way and now Karen felt sorry for voting for Mrs. Constance being fired.

As if God was rubbing salt in her wounds Mrs. Constance walk in to clear out her locker.

Not wanting to be the first to address her but it's seems no one else was going to Karen walks towards her locker.

Hearing noise approaching her Mrs. Constance looks up to see Karen walking towards her.

Wasn't it enough that she the one to start the rumors that I was trying to take over the company.

But to be the first face she see before she leaves the company; "Jesus you're really testing my faith" said Mrs. Constance to herself.

Now standing in front of Mrs. Constance; Karen speaks.

"Mrs. Constance I'm truly sorry that you were fired it wasn't my intention but your ideas wasn't welcomed here"

"You mean my ideas wasn't welcomed by you so you made sure the company saw me as a threat instead of a blessing said Mrs. Constance".

She knew it was me said Karen to herself but to Mrs. Constance she said:

"I don't want you to hate me for this and if you would except my help I can find you another job".

One of us must have taken drugs when we're younger and I know I never have said Mrs. Constance to herself but to Karen she responded this way.

"To accept any job or recommendations from you would be calling my Lord and Savior a lie for sending those ideas".

"What emotions do you think I would ever feel towards you for what you did but hate"?

"But what I'll do Karen once I clock out for the last time working for this company ".

"I'll forget you and this company once I clock out and feel sorry for you both because you actually believe you stopped progress;" said Mrs Constance.

"Mrs. Constance was all Karen got to say as she watch Mrs. Constance clocked out and head towards personal".

So angry that she couldn't contain it no longer Marie went to Melissa office.

Knocking on the door Marie wait until Melissa tells her to come in.

"I would like to go home now" said Marie.

Knowing that a lot of the employees didn't agree with what the company did concerning Mrs. Constance.

But Marie was in management she knew procedure so why do much anger asked Melissa to herself.

Back to address Marie question Melissa begins this way.

"Marie this is not personal and I don't want you to feel responsible".

She didn't want me to feel responsible when I came to you in confidence about Mrs. Constance complaints.

But to Melissa she responded this way.

"That's the only emotion left for me to feel", said Marie.

"When we failed to keep a woman job whose been here for 10 years and consider her a threat it's time for a break or a job change".

"And right now out of anger I'm asking for a week off or a permanent vacation said Marie.

Knowing that it wasn't a time to argue; Melissa signed the vacation request and tell Marie to take it to personal.

Marie closed the door as Melissa watched her leave.

Picking up the phone and dialing personal; Melissa waits until Kimberly answer the phone.

"Hello says Kimberly'

"It's happening now said Melissa".

"So Marie is fired also "said Kimberly?

"Yes, she should be coming through your door as we speak ",said Melissa.

And before she could hang up Marie sat down and said.

"I've some papers for you to sign here".

"Before I do that I've some papers for you to sign "said Kimberly.
