Overview
I also love writing children's adventure books with masses of heart. The Diamond Thief, a story about a trapeze artist who also happens to be the world's best cat burglar, won the Redbridge Children's Book Award in 2014. Two sequels followed, all published by Curious Fox. FIR, a young adult horror novel set in Sweden, was published by Red Eye, an imprint of Stripes, in 2017, and was shortlisted for the Lancashire Book of the Year Award in 2018. My Victorian-period middle grade adventure The Golden Butterfly was published by Stripes in May 2019. In May 2020 Little Tiger published The House of Hidden Wonders, a middle grade adventure set in the shadowy underworld of Victorian Edinburgh.
Also in 2020, Simon & Schuster UK signed me for two books of adult fiction. The House Beneath the Cliffs is the story of jaded chef Anna who finally splits with her domineering boyfriend and begins a new life in the tiny coastal village of Crovie in Scotland. She thinks she's left cooking behind for good but as she settles into her new life, she finds her love for food rekindled. The House Beneath the Cliffs will be published in August 2021, and has already had some lovely pre-publication reviews. I'm just finishing the manuscript of the second book, which will be published in 2022. It's also set in Scotland, but as yet has no title. Next year Little Tiger will also publish my next middle grade children's adventure, which I am currently writing (March 2021).
In between writing I provide proofreading and copy editing services for both fiction and non-fiction.
