Overview
I'm a copy editor and proofreader originally from the Pacific Northwest. I am a graduate of the MA in publishing and writing program at Emerson College and have had the chance to work on everything from short stories and web content to adult nonfiction and romance. What I really love to work on though, is middle grade and YA books.
In the middle grade and YA sphere, I've worked with imprints at Penguin, Simon & Schuster, Candlewick Press, and more. I'm always looking for books with vibrant characters, whether that's in fantasy, sci-fi, contemporary fiction, or a nonfiction book exploring the amazing creatures that live in caves.
As an editor, my duty is to the author's voice and the reader's experience--to make an enjoyable experience for a reader, without the distractions of typos or inconsistencies, while remaining true to the author's vision and voice. A common saying for copyeditors is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," and that's my philosophy as well.
I love the detail work of proofreading and being that safety net for an author to help catch typos that have slipped through the cracks and any formatting issues that could jolt the reader out of the story. I want your readers to stay immersed in your book's world! And having the cleanest book possible helps any reader focus on the story before them.
