Saranne Taylor – Editor

Children's editor (non-fiction / fiction for 0-14). 50+ published titles: fun, educational, inspiring. Ex-teacher, STEM topics UK. Kirkus ⭐️

Overview

Hello! I’m a friendly, hardworking and meticulous editor/author of children’s books, and I can't wait to work with you on your project.

With 15 years of experience (and 50+ published titles) in the UK, US and elsewhere, I’ll make sure that your project is finished to perfection. I’m a great listener, and I love to refine and polish as well as collaborate and brainstorm. In fact, at whatever point you are in your creative process, I’m excited to help. So let’s have a chat and discuss how we can work together!

My clients include Quarto, Bonnier, Sourcebooks, What on Earth, Townhouse Publishing, BrambleKids and International Elf Service, as well as independent writers and students. My passion is for entertaining STEM- and STEAM-based non-fiction and fiction for readers aged between 0 and 14 years (particularly series), but I’m open to anything that inspires people to read or take action. My writing is fun, educational and inspiring: from Science, Technology, Engineering, Art (especially theatre) and Maths, to wizards, dragons, elves, fairies and magical, fantasy or dramatic characters). I also love a limerick!

On a personal note, I'm a former teacher of English and Drama in the UK, with a love of languages, now living in the Italian countryside with my husband, two children and our gorgeous rescue dog.

TESTIMONIALS:

* An excellent author and editor, I have worked with Saranne on several projects and she always delivers measured, well-thought-out work. Her in-depth science knowledge and language skills are tremendously helpful, too. (Alix Wood - Publisher and book packager)

* Saranne has been working on a non-fiction project with us recently and it’s been a real pleasure - if you’re looking for a writer/editor/project manager, I can thoroughly recommend her. She has a brilliant feel for content that will engage primary school children; her words are pithy and fun. We’re hoping to work with her again soon! (Etta Saunders Bingham - Publisher: Bonnier)

* Saranne is as wonderful a writer as she is to work with. She follows briefs and transforms them into her own, injecting her own knowledge and experience and brightening educational copy with excitement and flair. I would jump at the chance to work with her again! (Rebecca Kealy - Editor: Templar Books)

* Saranne brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across all aspects of publishing. She is friendly, insightful, and demonstrates a comprehensive, thoughtful approach to discussion guide creation—from research to execution. Her project management skills are impressive, and her dedication to quality work in children’s literature is evident. Saranne would be a true asset to any team, and I highly recommend working with her for resources and backmatter. (Jackie García-Morales - Publishing Director)
