Jesse Doogan

Jesse Doogan – Editor

Insightful, kind editor with 15 years of book industry experience, specializing in kids' books (picture books, but also early reader, MG).

Overview

I am a writer and editor with over ten years of experience in the book industry. I have developed products, written manuscripts, and edited for well-known brands and New York Times-bestselling authors. I have worked as a bookseller and bookstore manager, and I am great at matching up books to readers, and that includes editors and agents! Let me help you craft your pitch or shape your manuscript and get it ready for publication.

My editing has been called "an amazing mix of insightful, direct, and kind." I think picture books deserve just as much attention and care as anything written for adults, I want to work with you to tell the best possible story.

I have presented and mentored at conferences such as Write to Publish, Colorado Christian Writers Conference, and Realm Makers and I am passionate about helping writers develop their voice. I hold an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Hamline University, where I won the The Frances and Kermit Rudolf Nonfiction Scholarship and the Anne Stickney Schmidt Scholarship in Young People's Literature.

I appreciate the time Jesse took to get to know my desires and vision. It was a unique book topic, but Jesse stayed true to its purpose. She strived to make my book as good as it could be and was willing to put in some extra time to make sure it was ready to be put in front of publishers. I feel more confident that the quality of my book is at a higher level than the book was before meeting wit...
