Mishma Nixon

Mishma Nixon – Editor

Children's book editor formerly at a Big 5 publisher, with experience working with award winning and bestselling authors

Overview

I have worked in editorial at a Big Five children's imprint, and have experience working with picture books through YA, with also an interest in select adult fiction - especially romance. I have worked with NYTimes bestselling, award-winning authors and debut talent.

I was previously a book blogger for over seven years, and have extensive experience working with upcoming and established authors, and have enjoyed being a part of a book's journey from its conception to release, while being able to support first time authors navigating publishing. As an editor, I can help with early to mid stages of story development, query process, and developmental editing. If needed I can also offer detailed line edits to refine your prose.

I am excited about picture books that center joy and tells a story about a place or people that hasn't been told before. In MG and YA, I look for contemporary and fantasy, with a soft spot for coming of age narratives, gothic fiction, and sweeping fantasy settings. I am also an avid fan of romance, and would love to work with both YA and NA romance. As someone who grew up in the global south, I am also keenly interested in stories set outside of the US.
