Sandy Cull

Sandy Cull – Designer

Award-winning book designer with 30 years experience working with publishers and self-publishers, and specialising in fiction/non-fiction.

Overview

I have been designing books for over thirty years, (with twelve of those in-house at Penguin Australia). I’ve been freelance since 2006 and work for many large and small publishers world-wide, as well as directly with authors and self-publishers. I design across several genres but mostly focus on literary and commercial fiction and non-fiction.

Books are my life! I have been a regular guest-speaker and panelist at literary festivals, a judge for national illustration and book design awards and a founding committee member of Australian Book Designers’ Association. In 2011, I was humbled to be inducted into the Australian Publishing Association Hall of Fame.

I love reading and words! It’s my great privilege to read 100% of my fiction manuscripts. I offer advice on briefing, schedules, materials and process and I pride myself on my communication skills, professionalism and reliability.
