Ifan Bates – Designer

I am a professional book cover designer from Penarth in South Wales. I have worked with Harper Collins, The Friday Project, September Publishing, Eye Books and Bedford Square.

I absolutely love designing book covers and have worked on covers across a range of genres.

I studied graphic design at Wolverhampton University where I obtained a 1st Class degree in Graphic Communications. I spent a number of years working at design agencies before moving to books, working on blue chip corporate design, brand identity, UI design, brochures, catalogues, magazines and even video games.

I love to immerse myself in the project - I like to get a good feel for the story and what is at its heart - from this I can produce a great visual solution and ensure it will fit perfectly within your market and genre.

I really can’t imagine working in any other area of design - great book design not only ensures your publication will be noticed, I also feel that what I do has provenance and a lasting identity.

I pride myself on an ability to successfully interpret a brief within time and budget.
