Rich Gemmell – Designer

Hi. I’m Rich,

I'm a Picture book Illustrator based in rural Northamptonshire with my partner, four year old son and three cats. I grew up in the North Yorkshire countryside surrounded by moors and hills with the coast not too far away.

I was always exploring and would get lost for hours, climbing trees and making dens. All of this prompted my love for animals, landscapes, nature, the sea and storytelling.

With over 12 years experience as an illustrator and designer, I get to make a living being creative, drawing Dinosaurs, Fish, Garden Monsters and Naughty Rabbits.

I have been drawing pictures my whole life. It is my absolute passion.

In my career I have drawn for The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Sceptre Publishing House, Bloomsbury and many others. I’ve sold prints all over the world and been published in educational texts.

I have completed 5 collaborative picture books as well as working on my own debut picture book as Author / Illustrator.

When I am not drawing, I work as a Graphic Designer. This has been my profession for over 8 years and gives me the extra toolset to design and layout books and book covers.
