Nicole Hammerl – Designer

I am a children’s book illustrator with a deep love for narrative imagery that gently opens up quiet worlds. I work primarily in watercolor or digitally with a watercolor style, creating a delicate, poetic atmosphere shaped by soft color transitions, detailed observations of nature, and a sense of calm and timelessness.

In my illustrations, I blend reality with a touch of magic. Landscapes, animals, and characters feel familiar, yet as if lifted from a dream. Inspired by coastal scenery, gardens, and small everyday moments, I tell stories that resonate with both children and adults.

My style is especially suited for sensitive, nature-centered, or poetic picture books, where emotion, mood, and visual storytelling take center stage. I work both carefully and intuitively, with a strong focus on detail, composition, and color harmony.

I support projects from the first sketches through to the final artwork and place great value on a trusting collaboration in which the story can fully come to life through images.
