Overview

I am a writer and editor based in Scotland. I have over a decade of editorial and copywriting experience, working with companies such as Hodder & Stoughton, HarperCollins, Faber & Faber, Juilliard and Ericsson. For the past six years, I have worked as an editor for a prominent literary consultancy, providing creative editorial feedback, mentoring, proofreading, and copy-editing.

My fiction won the New Voices Award in the 2022 Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize, and has been shortlisted for the Bath Novel Award. My non-fiction – featured in Places Journal, Ernest Journal and Little White Lies, among other publications – focuses on place, identity and culture. I graduated with Distinction from the Creative Writing MA at Bath Spa University in 2017 and I am currently studying for a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of St Andrews.

Nicholas helped me see my story from a readers point of view, in a way that allowed me to go back the drawing board and tackle the now obvious weaknesses and inconsistencies that needed to be reworked.
