Overview
A career journalist working at the sharp end of what used to be called Fleet Street, I know what makes a good story and I'd like to help you tell yours.
Once upon a time (my books don't all start like that, I promise) I was the chief sports writer at the Daily and Sunday Express. I spent five years in that role and 25 in all on national newspapers. I still work as a freelancer across the UK national media organisations. My byline has appeared in The Times, Telegraph, Guardian, Observer, Mail, Sun and Mirror.
I've written six books for major publishing houses, two of them under my own name and four as a ghostwriter for leading athletes. As well as working with Jonny Wilkinson on 'My World' and 'Lions and Falcons', I also ghosted the autobiography of England's most-capped men's rugby player Ben Youngs, entitled 'Beyond The Line', which was published by Pan Macmillan last year - and that of cross-code Lion John Bentley.
I've also ghosted numerous shorter-form columns for top sportsmen and sportswomen in print and online.
If there is sport involved in your project, great - that's my passion - but it is the person behind the performance which has always been most interesting to me.
Every individual has their own voice and capturing that is one of the challenges and joys of ghostwriting.
I also take on book doctor work - I have a qualification with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading - structuring and rewriting muddled manuscripts to knock them into shape.
To warn you, I'm used to operating at the top end of the industry so my services do not come cheap and I am selective in what I take on but I'm happy to listen to any non-fiction proposal. If we end up getting together - on short or long-form projects - you can be assured you will receive a first-class service.
