Overview
I'm an award-winning author published through HarperCollins Canada and Canadian literary journals. I edit fiction for the American literary magazine Dappled Things, and I teach creative and professional writing at a large polytechnic college. I've edited work and mentored writers in a variety of contexts, from universities, to community support groups, to publishing houses.
I adore the craft of writing, and I know firsthand what difference an excellent editor can make. Seeing other writers reach their "Aha!" moment with a text is the next-best thing to experiencing it with my own writing – and sometimes I wonder if it isn't even more fun.
I'd love to hear about what you're working on. Get in touch!

Work experience
Algonquin College
I teach courses in creative writing and editing to students in the Professional Writing program at Algonquin College's School of Media and Design. I'm responsible for developing course materials, lecturing, generating assignments and marking all student work. All courses are supported through the Brightspace platform (D2L), which I manage for each class.
Northern Initiative for Social Action (NISA)
In association with Open Minds Quarterly journal and NISA/Northern Initiative for Social Action, I offered mentorship and guided writing workshops to northern Ontario writers who have lived experience of mental illness.
Booming Ground, UBC Creative Writing
I provided six-month online writing mentorship services for writers of novels, short stories and memoir through
Dappled Things Magazine
I'm the Fiction Editor at this American journal of faith and the arts. In collaboration with the Managing Editor, Editor-in-chief, and Associate Editors, I select works of fiction to be included in the journal, as well as working with authors to polish work for publication and soliciting new work as needed. I also assist with proofreading, promotions and fundraising initiatives.
University of British Columbia
I solicited submissions for an anthology of work by UBC Creative Writing alumni, published by McClelland & Stewart; liaised among UBC faculty, potential contributors, and various copyright holders; edited and copyedited anthology submissions as these were received.
