Overview
I am a professional developmental, copy, and production editor with an extensive background in both commercial book publishing and high-level academic editing. My career includes serving as a staff developmental and production editor at Schiffer Publishing, where I managed and edited non-fiction books in history, art, nature, biography, and design from manuscript to print. I also have over 5 years of experience editing books written by humanities and social science professors at the University of Pennsylvania (magna cum laude, English).
For books in the manuscript phase, I provide comprehensive developmental editing, copy editing, and/or proofreading using tracked changes and comments in Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
For books already in layout, I provide thorough production edits, reviewing fully designed page galleys for formatting, aesthetics, and consistency while also copy editing the text via Adobe Acrobat PDF tracked changes and comments.
My approach is rigorously thorough, focusing on structural cohesion, pacing, and clarity while strictly preserving the unique voice and scholarly intent of an author. Authors and scholars appreciate my meticulous attention to detail, consistency, and ability to elevate a manuscript while honoring its original purpose.
