Overview
For 25 years, I’ve helped more than 90 first-time authors shape their texts, rewrite and reorganize material, generate ideas for image and feature programs, and get their first editions out into the world. I’ve had extensive experience writing original text for expanded editions and condensing text for brief editions. Recently, I’ve been writing and editing e-books in world history and world art.
I have long experience as a freelance newspaper writer for local papers in New York City and Lancaster, New Hampshire.
MOST recently, I've begun to help people write their memoirs and end-of-life letters. The work is highly satisfying. It's the same kind of thing I've done with college publishers, only personal: I help with clarity and consistency, develop ideas and themes, suggest feature programs (timelines and family trees!), and the like. I love it.
And I'm smart, friendly, calm, capable, and extremely pleasant to work with!

Work experience
Self-employed
As a freelance developmental editor in the higher education market, I work closely with authors and in-house departments (editorial, design, production, photo research, marketing, media), guiding projects from concept to final product: published textbook, online content, and ancillary materials. I review and assess projects for pedagogical value and organizational structure; gather and analyze reviewer feedback; and evaluate competing products.
