Overview

Dedicated to adding value and making your manuscript as flawless and smooth flowing as possible.

Friendly, professional non-fiction and fiction proofreader/editor with 10+ years of experience.

Specialise in non-fiction, especially history/educational/reference/self-help/health and wellbeing, and MBS/New Age (astrology in particular).

I also have 10+ years of experience proofing accounting/finance/business management/law study texts, thanks to an ongoing freelance relationship with a London-based publisher of professional education study materials for organisations such as CIMA, AAT, ACCA etc

Technical writing (especially B2C, marketing), as well as medical and dental content, are other areas where I have acquired proofing/editing experience and expertise over the years, after working with several dental comms, medical device and medical assessment services to create content that is both accessible and understandable to ordinary people and/or non-experts.

I have also authored and/or edited four non-fiction books under my own name, and am a member of the Society of Authors, and have worked with several London-based publishers, including Elsevier, Eddison Books, Duckworth and BPP Learning Media.

I also work as a researcher on biographical and historical books, my most recent project being 'Under the Rainbow' for the EW Cole Foundation in Melbourne, Australia.

Recently, however, I have forayed into spy fiction, short stories, and biography as well as political and local histories. More details in the portfolio and client reviews sections below.

One of my specialities is helping non-native English speakers to polish their manuscripts for the English-speaking world.

Additional skills include: Picture and archive research, Photoshop for cover design, eBook conversion etc

I wasn't convinced about the value of proofreading until I saw what Lisa uncovered in my manuscript, which had already had 10 beta readers and a copy editor. Better referencing, consistent numbers and capitalisation, better wording, clearer formatting of quotations, removing repetition. Huge value add and in less time than anticipated. Highly recommend Lisa

Lisa provided a very thorough and thoughtful edit of my first work. Also provided an understanding of the level of professionalism and quality that might be expected in getting your work published. Recommended to especially first time writers like myself.

Lisa did a great job picking up on some blunders. No matter how many times you read your story, it seems there is always something an experienced editor will find. I would definitely recommend Lisa and her keen eye.
