Laura Zats

Laura Zats – Editor

Long-time indie and traditional editor. Founder of a literary agency. Publishing Educator. Host of Print Run Podcast.

Overview

I'm a literary agent and developmental editor based in the Twin Cities. I've worked with books in every way from bookselling to editing to self-publishing.

I spent seven years with Wise Ink Media, shepherding hundreds of books through the indie publishing process, coaching dozens of authors, and editing multiple projects every season. I ran Wise Ink's fiction and children's lists, as well as edited self-help, business, and memoir titles.

In 2014, I began work as a literary agent, eventually founding Headwater Literary Management in 2019. As an agent, I specialize in genre fiction (science fiction, fantasy, horror, romance, mystery, thriller), and YA of all kinds.

I most enjoy digging deep with clients to fill plot holes, and love working on projects that just need a little extra push before submitting to agents or editors.
