Helen Hawkins – Editor

I have been professionally editing for five years, having trained with The Publishing Training Centre and the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders (CIEP). I am currently an Intermediate Member of CIEP and have experience across genre fiction, but my true passion lies in all things romance (and increasingly, Science Fiction!). I enjoy working with indie authors, but in addition, have also worked as a freelance editor for Bookouture. I have experience of working with The Chicago Manual of Style and New Hart's Rules (the Oxford style guide).

When I'm not editing, I am an author of contemporary romance novels and a teacher of English Language and Literature. As a fellow writer, I know how it feels to have your work edited – it can be tough to hand over your manuscript to readers. I will treat your work with sensitivity, but also offer the critique you need to take your writing to the next level; and with a love of all things literature, my editing tends to be collaborative, with coaching opportunities to workshop ideas and solutions to editing problems.
