Overview
I specialize in memoir, narrative nonfiction, and books by public figures, activists, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders who have a powerful story but need a skilled partner to help shape and tell it. I also develop book proposals for authors pursuing traditional publishing deals.
As a queer memoirist myself, I bring a unique perspective: I know what it means to trust someone with your story. It's a privilege and serious responsibility, and I don't take it lightly. That experience — having been on the other side of the process — informs how I approach every project.
I offer big-picture brainstorming and strategic development — helping authors figure out what their book is and how to tell it — as well as untangling plot holes, refining structure, pacing, voice, and narrative arc. With over ten years of experience, I know how to listen to someone's story and find the thread that makes it both personal and universal.
Although discretion doesn't permit me to name all of my clients, my ghostwriting and collaborative work has included:
A former state governor
A nationally recognized intersex activist
A bestselling Civil War novelist
A prominent immigration attorney and advocate
A mob enforcer turned DOJ informant
My own memoir received four stars from USA Today and was called "one of the strongest literary debuts in years." I've also written for the New York Times, Newsweek, Salon, and BuzzFeed.
I love working with first-time authors who feel overwhelmed by the process just as much as I love working with public figures who need someone they can trust with their story.
I hold a graduate degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism and am a self-proclaimed puppy dog enthusiast.
