Overview
Thoughtful, professional copyeditor. I polish fiction and nonfiction books (including children's and YA literature) for big five publishers, indie presses, querying authors, and authors who plan to self-publish. I also love to edit books for nonprofits; for example, I edited four anthologies of writing by women veterans, and a book on self-care by Latino/a therapists. Because I'm also a Spanish linguist, I frequently copyedit books in English with lots of Spanish words sprinkled in.
A publisher who contracts with me can expect easy and efficient communication, careful adherence to your house style (with flexibility for author preference where permitted), and a judicious use of queries that doesn't try anyone's patience. You can expect my edit to be delivered on time.
If you are an individual author, I will support your vision for the book and offer copyediting suggestions in line with that vision. My edits will ensure a polished manuscript that centers young readers by carefully considering tone, flow, punctuation, and word choice. I'm skilled at pointing out sensitivity issues, and if you request this, I'll flag any potential pitfalls without judgment and offer alternative phrasing in a comment.
My work has been praised by bestselling and indie authors. More than once, a managing editor has asked me to edit multiple books in a series. I find copyediting rewarding and enjoyable! I'd love to have a hand in making your manuscript the best book it can be.
